Desperate

Posted in The Sims, Uncategorized with tags , , on January 21, 2017 by Sara Hammerzmith

Day two on my current The Sims streak, and seriously, this time a little bit actually happened.

Firstly, she was promoted I believe on her job, and moved forward quite a bit in her career. While I do enjoy the scientist career, I cannot wait for it to be over. So I can start the Doctors career and start off pretty much where I left it with Anna, which again is a stupid thing to say, as I have actually reached further than Anna with Aria. Oh well.

So, she has done small steps forward in her careers, I don’t think she’s been promoted since last time I wrote about her, but she has spent some nice quality time with her boyfriend.

I have been so caught up in setting up her store that I never really bothered to maintain the relationship with the boyfriend. But that is about to change. I’m making him her priority.

Another interesting thing that has gone down though, is that she’s been abducted by aliens. I guess it comes with the territory when she keep on contacting them through her work, what did however provoke me a bit is the fact that she was abducted TWICE in one week. Like, she was about to eat and then go to bed because she was dead tired, but nope. Abduction first, apparently.

Who knows how many times I’ll find her being taken away. Well, soon enough I guess her career will be over… and all will be well again.

Charmed Life

Posted in The Sims, Uncategorized with tags , , on January 20, 2017 by Sara Hammerzmith

So, played a bit with Aria today, but I must admit, not a whole lot of progress. I guess this is, and I’ll admit it right away, that I have a bit of a hard time really sitting down PLAYING The Sims. For some reason I always feel the need to do several things all at once, not sure why. I need to change this veeery soon, and actually sit down and PLAY it. Perhaps then will I finally be able to move on.

Anyway, what has happened anyway is that she’s moved forward in her career. Not a whole lot obviously, as I’m still trying to get a hang of everything once again, but it’s slowly getting there. She moved up two steps on the career ladder, however.

2017-01-20_23-36-02

Hopefully, if I perhaps sit down with one of the million albums I have just recieved to review, perhaps I can actually get through a proper session. I should probably try that. Like, sit down and just listen through the past discographies of bands I have to review and perhaps even bands who play festivals, and thus fooling myself into doing several things at once. Who knows.

Well, we’ll see when I decide to continue this! Until then!

Water under the Bridge

Posted in The Sims, Uncategorized with tags , , on January 19, 2017 by Sara Hammerzmith

So, I’ve finally taken up on The Sims again! It’s been some time since I actually played, or well, it sure as hell feels like it, but inbetween I’ve managed to get to it!

What has happened since last is that I figured out I had the Outdoor Retreat expansion pack. I honestly did not know I had it. See, this is what is so problematic with digital copies rather than physical. Because, I couldn’t for the life of me figure out HOW Aria had gotten the herbal collecting skill, but then, well, yeah, I figured it out. And with that, I actually sent her and her boyfriend Travis off to Granite Falls for their first couple vacation.

2017-01-16_23-41-14

They had a good run. It was quite necessary I believe, seeing I always focus too much on Aria’s careers to pay any sort of attention to her boyfriend, so this was well needed. Sadly, they only went for two days so not a lot happened, more than some bonding and some games.

2017-01-16_23-57-57

After this vacation, it was time for Aria to start a new career. She is finally done with all the careers that were available, and has now started on her first Get To Work career – and I’m starting off with Scientist, as I already played through that career with Anna once.

2017-01-16_22-21-04

It’s going ok. A bit slow, because I had forgotten how these careers actually work and found myself running around having no idea what to do – but we are now back on track.

So, with that said, I’ll check in with you later with more updates on Aria!

Love Don’t Last Forever

Posted in Music, Uncategorized on January 18, 2017 by Sara Hammerzmith

So, pretty interestingly, I stumbled upon the “Your year in LastFM” when being on the site yesterday, and I thought I should share it with you, what I learned on it because it was quite interesting to see.

scrobble-stats

So in total, I scrobbled 9,500 songs roughly. It does make sense – I listen to most of my music on CD or vinyl while at home, and sometimes I forget to import the tracks from my iPod to the computer and it expires. What is interesting to see though, is how many average scrobbles a day I have – 28, and that it totals up to less than a day in time. Interesting to see.

artists

Last year, 2016, I listened to 204 different bands and artists, which is 57% more than the average user of LastFm. 204 different bands. Can that even be correct? Wow.

albums

I only listened to 292 different albums this year. I say “only” because I have closer to 350 albums, physical, and near 800 total in my iTunes. It puts things into a perspective, and perhaps how much you do actually listen. Fun trivia: 292 was the amount of points Lordi had when they won the Eurovision. 60% more albums than the average listener though.

tracks

I listened to 1501 different tracks, 76% more than the average listener. I have around 6500 tracks in total in my iTunes, so this is very very, VERY little. Wow.

discovery

Discovery. I discovered 22% new artists amongst my all played bands, 30% new albums and 48% new tracks, counted on the previous numbers, which makes the list shrink even more when knowing that. I really, need to change that. Like, badly.

listening-week-1

I apparently, listened most on Saturdays. I reckon this is mostly gig days, actually.

longest-streak

Longest streak in listening. This doesn’t really make sense to me, as I walk with my small iPod every day, but it is possible a song was never scrobbled that day.

top-tags

I listen mostly to Powermetal, followed by heavy metal and thirdly hard rock. Sounds about right for me, don’t you think?

biggest-day

On April 2nd I scrobbled 328 songs. April 2nd was the day we got on the looong trainride to Clermont-Ferrand to see Powerwolf, so this makes sense to me – I probably listened a lot while packing, while riding the train, and we listened while getting ready for the show. So yeah, this seems about right.

The most interesting with this thing is how it puts a perspective on things. Like… You think you listen so much, and sure I still do, not everything get scrobbled, I know at least 100 tracks are missing and such, but still. It feels like so much more but…

Nope.

The Real Me

Posted in Music, Uncategorized with tags , , on January 17, 2017 by Sara Hammerzmith

Okay, so, it is sort of funny that I’d write about Art Nation yesterday, because today they finally revealed the artwork as well as a teaser from an upcoming single! And seriously…

HERE IS A LINK TO THEIR FACEBOOK, so you can listen yourself.

Okay, so , this is a teaser from their first single “The Real Me” which will be released on February 24th. And I don’t think I’ve been more excited for a single release as I am for this one! Seriously, that little teaser, I couldn’t contain myself!

I’m always worried when I find a band that in my eyes are perfect, that their next album may not be as good as the first one, or as you’d have hoped seeing the first was so good, and I had my biggest concerns with Art Nation. Not that I don’t think they’d be capable, because I know they would be, but what if they changed direction? Or did something completely different and new without even a touch of their old material?

But no. This song is very true to “their” sound if I may call it so, and not only that, but it also gives me pure eargasm as it has everything that I want – Alexanders amazing vocalwork, uptempo fun rhythms and of course a big chunk of that keyboards that I love so dearly. I love the melody work in what I assume was the start of the chorus, and again the vocal work… I love the way it’s been arranged, at least from this little teaser I heard. I hope the full song is as good, or perhaps better, than this.

I cannot get enough of this teaser, and even though I don’t like when time passes by too quickly, February 24th couldn’t come sooner now.

Art Nation – Revolution

Posted in CDs, Music, Uncategorized with tags , on January 16, 2017 by Sara Hammerzmith

So, there’s an album that I’ve found myself listening to non stop these past weeks, or perhaps I should say even months. I’ve tried so many times to change the album, or to tell myself that “I need to listen to something else”, but I always find myself going back to this one album. It’s the album I picked up from one of the “smaller” bands playing Skogsröjet; Art Nation’s “Revolution”.

I discovered the band through Skogsröjet really – I was listening through some of their stuff before going to the festival, in order to determine if I wanted to see them or not, and by that I decided to go see them. I enjoyed the show very so much, and picked up on their album. What I did know, is how utterly obsessed I’d become with the album.

To put it very shortly and simply, this album is nothing but pure perfection. It opens up with a strong, yet subtle song that grows in intensity as the song goes on, with the perfect break down – “Need You To Understand”, and the album continues in the vein of this album – pure 80’s inspired kind of hardrock music, and not a single one of the songs are bad, like, upbeat yet heavy lyrically “3000 Beats”, “Moving on” and “Here I am” for the melodic and intense parts, party tunes like “All The Way” and not to mention acoustic ballad “Look To the Sky”.

Alexander’s voice. He has an enchanting and powerful voice, and he performs his parts with such an intensity – raw energy in the more upbeat songs, emotion-filled parts with a hint of almost crying in some parts, creating a more intense listening experience, allowing you really FEEL something rather than just listening to someone perform a piece of lyric written infront of him.

Most of you probably know that I don’t actually listen to this kind of music a lot anymore – sure, the bands I started listening to are still there, but I rarely get into new bands in this genre, but I’ve found that these kind of bands – Art Nation and H.E.A.T, they have a tendency to always make flawless and perfect albums. No transportation tracks, no weaker tracks, just pure magic all through.

I just had to get this out of my system. I am beyond excited about their second album coming this year, and not to mention, seeing them at Sweden Rock. I got so excited seeing they got announced I completely missed out on ARTCH being announced. That says something, huh?

I cannot wait for more material from these boys.

One of a Kind

Posted in Uncategorized on January 15, 2017 by Sara Hammerzmith

Off HammerFall’s “No Sacrifice, No Victory” album. Still to this date, this is my favorite HammerFall album ever made. “Any Means Necessary” alone is enough to love, right? Was an amazing era to see live as well.

Had my friend over today to help me pack, or rather, sort out what clothes to bring and not. It’s so funny with Nathalie, because her and my clothing style are pretty much on the opposite sides of the spectrum, which leads to interesting points of view and discussion when it comes to clothes. For instance, she pointed out how many of my clothes have similar patterns. I never thought that much about it before, but when she pointed it out like that… yeah, she’s right.

We did however manage to sort out some clothes, so what is left now is for me to try out packing all of this in my suitcase. My hopes are that I’ll only use half of the suitcase, or less, rather than overpacking. I know already now that I’ll probably buy some merch from all of the bands, and by doing so I do sort of need the space, you know? Especially if Lordi has hoodies. Damn. Those hoodies.

I cannot really believe it is only two weeks or three before we go. It’s absolutely insane to think about. I can’t even… I’m not ready! But, I guess I will be, once I’m on my first flight to the UK.

Out on the Streets

Posted in Uncategorized on January 14, 2017 by Sara Hammerzmith

Song off Battle Beast’s selftitled album. I honestly like this song a whole lot, and it was amazing live. I really hope I can see Battle Beast soon again.

So, today, guess what folks. I’ve finally gotten around to start packing. Or well, sort of. It’s what we would call the first selection. Basically, whenever going on a major trip where I’ll actually be doing something else than just going to a show, and especially if it’s a country or place with a bit of a different climate than at home, I like to go through all my closet to see what I actually have in there. Partly to make sure I don’t forget something, but also to see what I have actually got. My idea is to some day actually CLEAN OUT my closet and get rid of the things I barely use. Maybe one day.

So, the rough draft resulted in two bags, which… isn’t too bad being me. And some of the clothes in there are gig clothes for Powerwolf and Lordi – which takes up some space, and also underwear and bathing clothes, which can’t exactly be reduced. And then secondly, I have put down the things I wish I had brought to Australia. I left this amazing thin bolero at home thinking “ah, I won’t miss it”. And then it wound up being the only piece I missed the entire trip. Good on me huh?

Aside that, I have set up the first rough draft to my charging adapter. Being inspired of going to work yesterday with one of the phones completely dead, and the one with about 40 % battery, I figured I had to come up with a solution as to how I could charge both phones at the same time, and perhaps even fairly often.

So, the idea broke that I could use an old egg-holder, two chords and a charging adapter. So first, I painted the egg-carton gold-ish, whatever, it was a color I had lying around at home, and then I got two cables, one pink and one blue. Do not ask why, because I honestly do not know. I cut holes in the bottom of the carton, and pulled the chords through, and voila. A charging station! Finally!

docky

But now folks, it’s time for me to head to work. Talk to you tomorrow!

King for a Day

Posted in Uncategorized on January 13, 2017 by Sara Hammerzmith

So, Battle Beast has released new material from their upcoming album “Bringer of Pain” – “King for a Day” a while ago, and today “Familiar Hell”. I haven’t written about it, but I sure as hell will now.

Let’s start with “King for a Day”

First and foremost, I’m in love with this. I love the 80’s vibe to the music, which I guess should come as no surprise for any of you that I’m a sucker for anything that got an 80’s vibe, and as someone who loved “blabla” this is so good. Especially that music mixed with Nooras deeper, raspy kind of voice makes it a killer tune. Secondly, I really, really love the lyrics as well. I was already really excited for this album, but this song just enhanced it. Oh dear.

So, secondly; “Familiar Hell”

I do like this song. I didn’t fall in love with it instantly as I did with “King for a Day”, but I have a feeeling that as time goes by, I’ll fall in love with this one eventually, I always end up doing. However, it does go in the same style as the previous song, which is very very promising for me.

I know a lot of people have complained they have turned a lot more pop lately, much like Sabaton did with “The Last Stand”. I can understand the disappointment, but on the same time I can’t be upset about it personally, as I prefer this kind of music. I’m really, really excited for this album now, and I can’t wait for it to come. It will be nice coming home to this.

Destination Dust

Posted in Uncategorized on January 12, 2017 by Sara Hammerzmith

Tonight at work I took myself the oppurtunity to go over three new unopened albums. After a major tour like the one I was just at, combined with Christmas, the pile of unopened CD’s gets bigger and bigger for every day it seems, so it was good knowing and feeling that I could open not one, but three of the new ones for work tonight. Which was a bit of hell by the way – it’s been melting in Sweden these past couple of days, and then freezing upon it, so it was a basic hockey court here and there. The car slided around. Was fun though, and I learned how secure I actually am as a driver.

Enough about that, onwards to the albums! So, the albums I opened for today was my three most recent one; Adele’s “25”, Edguy’s “Space Police” and Sister’s “Stand Up! Forward! March!”. And you know… I was so pleased with all the albums. I figured I’d do a run down over the weekend or so where I’ll break down each and every albums rather than trying to write something here in this entry, but I enjoyed them all tremendously. Especially Sisters, as I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I LOVED, LOVED “Hated” so much, but wasn’t very fond of “Disguised Vultures”, making me feeling unsure about it, but not yet ready to let go of a band that created such a masterpiece of an album that is “Hated”. But now, I’m getting a bit carried away. I’ll write about “Stand Up, Forward! March!” tomorrow instead, but as you can see, I grew fond of it!

Aside that, I will be dedicating this weekend to packing before the US. It is crazy close to it now, and I cannot wait to get back on the road again. After all this time.
