Gravity Falls Challenge Day 15: Favorite Relationship

Posted in 20 Days Gravity Falls Challenge, Uncategorized on April 20, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

Okay, this one is DEAD easy. I know this may not be at all what the title and questions is meant, but it doesn’t really matter.

My favorite relationship in this series is Dipper and Mabels. Without question.

Dipper and Mabel are siblings as you know, twins to be more exact, and that bond they have to each other is amazing. The way they, despite being so different – Dipper being the more analytical, hysteric and worrying kind of person, and Mabel being the easy-go-happy-no worries- hakuna matata kind of girl with silly sweaters and a pet pig, they still work fantastically together, and they are always there for each other.

Dipper saves Mabel and stands up for her when Pacifica is being a jerk, and she helps him solve the mysteries in sometimes the most childish ways possible. And more often than not with a grappling hook.

Oh that grappling hook.

So yes, Dips and Mabes are my favorite relationship in this series, tightly followed by the twins with Stanford. He might seem grumpy, but he cares a lot for the kids. You can tell.

Hold My Hand

Posted in Uncategorized on April 19, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

This day was spent rather interestingly. I got up early this morning and headed off to Ingesund to have a recordingsession with a band. It’s stupid, I lost my keycard so I had to rely on my amazing classmates to open the studio for me, which they did (Thanks Ewelina!) and we could get on with the recordings.

It was a fairly simple recording – drumset, guitars and bass, taken one instrument at a time. We had difficulties setting up, but thanks to my amazing classmates (Oliver, Gereon, Fredrik, Jens – You guys rock) we could move on with the recordings eventually.

There isn’t a lot to say about it, more than we spent half the day in the studio recording their song, and all that is left to do now is to mix it and have the singer lay down vocals on it. But that’s some other times troubles.

E- Band that you don’t like that a lot of people do

Posted in A-Z Music, Music, Uncategorized on April 17, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

The worst part about getting these kind of questions, is the fact that you have to single out a band you currently don’t listen to, and like I stated a few days ago – had you asked me only two years ago if I would be into SlipKnot, I would have laughed and asked if you were crazy.

So it feels weird to single out a band and be like “I don’t like that” because one day I may.

But if we talk only about the present and what I feel at the moment, those kind of bands would probably be like Metallica and Ghost. I can’t say either of those bands are BAD, I’ve just never gotten into them. I don’t really know why, it’s just, haven’t clicked, I guess.

So yeah. Ghost and Metallica, there you have it. By these criteria I could make this list very very long, and could probably list every single black metal band and so on, but it feels a bit easy, don’t you think?

Today was pretty eventful day. Or perhaps not, what happened anyway was that Jennie and I traveled off to my late grandmas old summercottage. We have some plans to fix it up a bit, and then spend at least a week there this summer. So we got in the car, drove all the way up to Haftersbol, with a little difficulty, since it’s been quite some time since I was there. I was certain as hell that we’d miss the hill.

But we didn’t, and we got there. We walked around the place and looked on what we shall do with it and the property and what we want to have done. We sat down in the car to discuss all of this as it was quite windy, and before we knew it a little, or pretty big, hare jumped passed us. It was so cute.

Once we felt done for the day we went into Hagfors to enjoy a really good kebabroll and then heading home. Except we didn’t find home. Or we did, eventually, but we ended up taking the wrong route home, which is kinda weird because we had planned to stop by at Haftersbol… But you know, shit happens I guess haha!

But I really can’t wait to spend some quality time there this summer. It’ll be awesome.

Woman Crush Wednesday – Linda Bengtzing

Posted in Music, Uncategorized on April 15, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

I’m gonna go for maybe a little of a surprising choice for all of you – I’m going to talk about a long-term idol for me, Linda Bengtzing.

bengtzing

As most other people, I discovered her in Melodifestivalen 2005, when she competed with the song “Alla Flickor”. You could say I fell pretty much IMMEDIATELY for the music and the artist, and when her debut album was finally released the following year I wasn’t late to pick it up.

She has so far released two albums, “Ingenting att Förlora”(2006) and “Vild & Galen”(2008) and a compilation album. She’s competed numerous of times in Melodifestivalen with songs as “Alla Flickor“, “Jag Ljuger Så Bra“, “Hur Svårt Kan Det Va‘” and “E det fel på Mig?” and I must admit, I get ever so excited every time I see her name on the bill.

I have never actually seen her live – or, in a way I have, because she was a part of the Rix FM tour that went through Sweden, but as she only played three songs I have a hard time to consider it a gig. But, those three songs were amazing.

I’m usually pretty picky with my pop music – hair metal music is something where everything goes, most powermetal goes, but I’m as delicate with my popmusic as I am with my heavier metal. But, her albums are near perfection. There is literally only one or two songs I may not like, in total on all her albums, and what makes it even more perfect is that she has a song for every occasion.

Paula and Michelle can witness about being tortured with “Grannarna Vaknar”.

So yeah. My woman crush this wednesday is definitely my old idol, Linda Bengtzing. Love you girl.

D- The band I’ve seen live the most

Posted in A-Z Music, Music, Uncategorized on April 14, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

I had to recalculate how many times I’ve seen certain bands to make sure I got the right one, and I did.

It was actually pretty crowded – we have Steel Panther with 11 gigs, HammerFall with 12 gigs, and even Sabaton tied with Lordi on 13 gigs each. But neither of these are the band I’ve seen the most.

The band I’ve seen live the most times, 16 times,  are also the band that happens to be my very very first favorite band ever – Wig Wam.

full-2
(Fagernes, 2006)

I’ve seen them a total of 16 times, up until their breakup a few years ago. It started out as massive boom in 2006 with eight gigs, and then it has gotten fewer and fewer over the years, and the last time I saw them was actually here in Sweden, in 2010. A few years later they announced their break up. I always found it odd that they put out “Wall Street” without supporting it whatsoever.

Either way, this was actually a very good band. Like, a VERY VERY good band. Good on the albums, and phenomenal live. While I do miss them sometimes, and most importantly, all the amazing people I met through them, it feels like it was for the best in the end that they called it quits.

full-4
(Söre Osen, 2006)

Thanks for these years, Wig Wam, and thanks to all you amazing people I met – Lina, Kjersti, Kath, Nina, Hansi, Tinna and more.

Music Monday: Gotthard – Domino Effect

Posted in CDs, Music, Uncategorized on April 13, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

In all honesty, I sometimes feel a bit torn writing about a Gotthard album, pointing out that this and that are the better album, because seriously, ALL their albums are fantastic. Even favorite bands like Lordi has dips (for me) every second album, but Gotthard, they keep wowing me for every album. Every release.

But with that said, it doesn’t mean that it’s no point in pointing out the albums they’ve made. And this time around, I’ll talk a little about “Domino Effect” (2007) which also happens to the first Gotthard album I ever got.

DSC01632

It’s a 15 track long album, which concerned me at first. Normally, the ideal lenght of an albums is around 11-12 songs, but surprisingly, at that time when I got it, not a single one of the songs were “too much”. Each and every one are absolutely fantastic in their own way. You have the “punch in your face” kind of opening in “Master of Illusion”, the heavy title track, the more calmer section in “Falling” and “The Call”, the dramatic “The Oscar Goes To You” down to the melancholic tones of “Letter to a Friend”, which also happens to be one of my personal favorites on this album all in all, and then flowing out in the slightly cheerful, and beautiful tunes Gotthard are known for in songs as “Tomorrow’s Just Begun”… I could go on forever, talking about each and every song but that would make this entry WAY too long.

So basically, what I want to have said with this is that this album is perfect in every sense possible, even though it cuts a little bit in me to hear Steve vocals. I sure miss him every time, but I LOVE Nic Maeder, never believe anything else.

So yeah. Get this album. Like, now. At least if you like rock.

Walk This Way

Posted in Uncategorized on April 12, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

Seriously, this week, and this day, has been very, very long. Long days, a lot to do, so it’s nice to finally have had some time to just CHILL OUT and rest and get back from everything. The last few weeks on the road has killed me more than it should, not because traveling per se is difficult, because it’s not, but because I have no self-disciplin what so ever.

I try to tell myself like “When you go on that bus, you need to sleep” But will I do this? No. Once I get on the bus I’m like “Oh I should do this and that or that and this” and I end up doing NOTHING but listening to music instead. Listening to music is absolutely great, but on the other hand, it doesn’t exactly help you when you are sleep-deprived. Haha. Oh dear lord.

It’s some time left until it’s time for the festival summer to kick off, and even though it sucks to have nothing to do, it’s kinda nice. To recharge, clean up everything, sort out everything, FIND everything, seriously, I had to leave for Belgium and Brighton without my favorite Lordishirt because only GOD KNOWS where the heck it went. I found it now though, so I’m happy.

But you know. I can’t wait to get back on the road again. And even though the days feels so slow right now, I’m pretty positive it will all go very, very fast in the end.

Gravity Falls Day 14: Creature I’d like to see

Posted in 20 Days Gravity Falls Challenge, Gravity Falls, Uncategorized on April 11, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

Like I start almost ALL my Gravity Falls challenge entries… this one had me a bit in a pickle. Creature I’d like to see… that’s a tough one. I mean, Alex evidently has no trouble coming up with any kind of creature, so just trying to think about all the possible things he could come up with are difficult as it is already.

But I guess I’d like to see some sort of companion to Bill, I guess. Another demon of sorts, not as a lover or anything, more like a business partner. Like, they conquer Bill and OH NO, another demon lurking and destroying things or just co operating. What kind of demon he would be, and what he’d look like though, that’s hard for me to come up with right away right here.

But yeah. Another dream demon who is in it to win it with Bill. I’d like that.

C – 5 bands I don’t care for

Posted in Uncategorized on April 10, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

Well well well… isn’t that interesting. Just yesterday I wrote I don’t really hate any band, but I have a few I may not care for. One of them which I linked, I won’t mention their name (call me stupid if you want, but you are never seeing their band name on this blog again)…. So ok we have them… then… I guess it kinda comes to artists like Kanye West, I really don’t like the stunt he’s pulled on other musicians just because Beyoncé hasn’t won an award.

And yeah. That’s about how far I came with that. I think a big reason why I don’t want to just throw out bands I don’t like or care for like that, is because things change. Had you asked me like four years ago if I liked SlipKnot I would have laughed and asked how you could even think such a thing. But here I am, with them as one of my favorites.

Times changes, people changes, musictaste changes. So yeah. The Unmentionable ones, and Kanye West is gonna be the ones I’ll put up for you here.
