1.000.000 Miles Away

THIS HAS BEEN A GOOD DAY PEOPLES.

Why you may ask? Well, maybe because of the addition to my recordcollection? FINALLY, I’ve gotten the money and time to order both of Amaranthe’s previous albums and FINALLY they came home. To extend the collection a little more I decided to sit down and buy some singles too, so now I feel content with my whole Amaranthe collection. The excitement for “Massive Addictive” has started to get to me, and I just wish time would fly, on the same time as I don’t want it to fly.

The only thing I thought about was the digipack. As you guys know, I’m no fan AT ALL of digipacks, but if they have those extra bonustracks, digipacks it is. What surprised me with “The Nexus” is that the album is as thin as the average Metal Hammer single. It was so weird, I got a little worried I had accidently gotten myself a single or something. It’s fascinating. Never seen that before with an album.

Aside this, I have also gotten around to book the first parts of the upcoming Finlandtrip! Hotels in Stockholm (because of worthless airporttransfers) and concerttickets for the Lordi show are booked! I’m so excited to see the monsters again, even though it’s only been a year since last. It’s going to be a killer.

Drop Dead Cynical – New with Amaranthe

Posted in Music, Uncategorized on September 9, 2014 by Sara Hammerzmith

Swedish metalband Amaranthe is set to release their third album “MASSIVE ADDICTIVE” on October 21st, and I’m more than excited. Their first two albums were absolute killers, so I’m stoked to hear what they have in store. And gladly, I didn’t have to wait much longer than ’til now – you see, they released their first single today – “Drop Dead Cynical”.

So, what’s my opinion? Well. You know, there is one thing I’ve always loved so much with Amaranthe – and that is how close they are to popmusic. The first thing that came to mind when I was listening to this track was Alcazar. I can’t put my finger on what song, and perhaps it isn’t even Alcazar when times comes around, but regardless – their music is close to theirs, while it’s also the complete opposite. And as a HUGE schalger fan, this is one of the most ideal bands for me musicwise.

Anyway, I got a bit sidetracked. The song, is great, and it feels promising. If the album will be in the feel of this song, then it’s going to be killer. It’s in the same spirit as the two previous albums, perhaps it’s almost a little teasingly touching some heavier elements, but not a lot. However, the song performances on this song are just absolutely perfect. It’s a bit dangerous saying perfect, but I just love how they’ve arranged and put it all together. But of course, what did I expect from some of Swedens finest?

So yes. Head over to iTunes store to buy the new single. DO IT NOW. You won’t be disappointed! But if you aren’t willing to pay, you can always try this Spotify link.

So, anyone else than me who has pre-ordered the album?

“Plane refueled, seatbelts broken and an hour or so of pure turbulence coming up”

Posted in Music, Uncategorized on September 8, 2014 by Sara Hammerzmith

Yes, I totally ripped off what Lordi wrote on their status when revealing the new costumes, couldn’t exactly have said it better myself!

So yes, today, Lordi finally revealed both costumes and album artwork. Thanks to Ludvig I saw a lot of it before today, but regardless, it was great to see.

First of all, I wanna start off with saying that now, with the albumcover, era artwork and the title I use above, the title “Scare Force One” makes a lot more sense and doesn’t feel weird at all. On the other hand, I’m getting extremely pumped for this.

scareforce

Second of all, the new costumes. BEHOLD!

lordicostumes

Alright. First of all, as I said in my comments a few days ago, I’m not too crazy about Hella’s haircolor change. But, I won’t complain too much about it, because it does fit her, and her clothes, OH MY LORD, HER CLOTHES! Now this is something I could consider cosplaying some time. THIS version of Hella, clothing wise, is absolutely perfect. In. Love.

I think, in all honesty, Mana is the one who made the biggest change though. I’m not sure if he’s bald or if he has some hair tied back, can’t really tell on this picture, regardless, I’m pretty positive he’ll rock it. Is it just me, or isn’t he moving a LITTLE bit towards Otus? Just a tiny bit. Amen and OX looks fairly much the same – small changes, like Amens neck piece and that OX now has “OX” carved in his forehead, but regardless – this is an epic update. So goes for the man himself too.

What I also like about this era is all the blood. It feels somewhat promising. All of you guys knows that I’ve always preferred “The Monsterican Dream” and “Deadache” rather than any other album, so I really expected “To Beast” to be really good, given the statistics had shown us that every 2nd album would be good, but it wasn’t. It’s a fine album, but nowhere NEAR the quality of “The Monsterican Dream” or “Deadache”.

However, these costumes my friend, looks promising as hell. Please, this album BETTER be in the league of the two mentioned. Or else I don’t know what to do.

So, mark your calendars. September 19th for single, October 31 for album.

Soon, soon.

Nailed by the Hammer of Frankenstein – (Almost full sample)

Posted in Music, Uncategorized on September 7, 2014 by Sara Hammerzmith

People who don’t want spoilers – there is no point for you to continue reading.

Alright. I assume that NO ONE in the Lordi camp has missed that Lordi’s got a new single coming, “Nailed by the Hammer of Frankenstein”? I wrote about it a couple of days ago, so naturally, everyone reading my blog should know about it. I noticed when linking the samples that there were different bits of the song depending on the site, and now, there’s a kid out there who’ve actually put together all the sample, almost to a full song.

This isn’t the whole song, as according to iTunes it’s supposed to be around 3:50, but it’s a good start nonetheless to see what we are up for! (No, I do not consider this leaking as it’s something put out officially. Their problem if they choose different snippets)

Well yeah, I’m gonna stick to what I said the other day. It’s similar as hell to “We’re not bad for the kids”, and the lyrics on the other hand seems to be all over the place, pretty much like the average Lordi song lately. Almost like they copied themselves, but refined it a little bit. I do, for now, prefer this song over “We’re not bad”. Perhaps it’s because it’s shiny and new, but it is darn good.

It’s yet another month and a half until the monsters hit us again. And I just can’t wait. So sit back, enjoy this put together song and go batshit while waiting for the new Lordi.

Nailed By The Hammer of Frankenstein – New with Lordi

Posted in Music, Uncategorized on September 6, 2014 by Sara Hammerzmith

Alright folks. Lordi’s new single “Nailed by the Hammer of Frankenstein” is set to be released on September 19th (which will, ON THE DAY, mark 8 years since my first Lordi concert! Perhaps I should give you a throwback entry then?) and already right now you can hear a snippet of the song on iTunes store and this website.

Even though I feel I recognize this song from somewhere, that I’ve heard it before, and as Maddy pointed out, it’s very similar to “We’re not bad for the Kids (We’re Worse)” off their latest album (To Beast or Not To Beast), and I’d like to say that it got a little bit of “I’m the Best” in it as well.

With that said, I must say I really like what I hear. It’s feels like it’s a pretty typical Lordi-kind-of-song and I’m looking forward not only to hear the full song, but also to the album. The album is according to CDON set to be released on October 31, meaning we got A LOT of good things to look forward too!

Any Lordifans reading got an opinion on this?

R.I.P – Lady Axa

Posted in Uncategorized on September 5, 2014 by Sara Hammerzmith

Alright. This is with a bit of a heavy heart, I’ll tell you that earlier this morning, Lady Axa was put down after a time of illness.

ladyaxaaa

The fact she was going to be put down actually ambushed me a lot. I knew she’d been taken out of lessons last semester, at the end, but other than that, I thought everything was fine. She has been acting liker her normal self all the time I’ve met her this semester (which has been a month only but) so yes, I was VERY surprised to learn that she was going to move on, so to speak.

Wow. What do I even say about her. Where do I begin. She’s been in my life for 5 years now. She arrived at KRK on my 18th birthday actually, and I fell for her pretty instantly. At first it felt crazy – Me, liking a brown horse? You see – I don’t really care for brown horses. I’m not sure if this has anything to do with the fact that KRK’s horses are like 99% brown, but I just find them boring. But for some reason, this lady stuck with me. It got pretty interesting once I learned she was blind on one of her eyes, just like my old favorite horse Pickles. And she was exactly ten years younger. I guess it was meant to be, huh?

Anyway. I’d go on to having her as my renthorse, and I had her as my camphorse for year or two, and I can tell you one thing. She and I never really worked together that well in dressage, she was stiff as hell, BUT. This horse, this pony, made me overcome my fears of jumping. Overcome my fears of riding in the forest, or just outside in general. All these memories I have, where me and Axa and Emelie and Cobweb would just gallop over the field at the stable, all free. Things I never thought I’d ever dare to do. But thanks to Axa, I did. Therefore, this horse is a bit more than just that horse I loved. She’s the constant, she’s one of the most important in my “horselife” so to say, much like Winerva was.

On the latter years, the only things I’ve really done with Axa is grooming and occasional walks. I don’t ride pony anymore since many years back, so it got kinda lost. And maybe that’s why it pinches me in the eye a bit that I never got the chance to say good bye (this is another story). It’s also a little scary, that it’s almost ON THE DAY 8 years since Pickles was put down. All these coincidences makes my brain go insane.

With all this said, I want to just thank Axa for all the amazing things she brought to my life, thanks for all the laughs, for all the buck offs, for all the jumps we conqeuered, and all the fears. Thanks, Lady Axa. Always and forever.

“Rock is already dead” – Filesharing

Posted in Tankar och funderingar, Uncategorized on September 4, 2014 by Sara Hammerzmith

Wow, while sitting here waiting for my new The Sims 4 game to install, while being enraged by certain events of the evening, I come across an interview with Gene Simmons I really liked. I usually don’t pay too much attention to what he man says, but seriously, THIS. THIS PEOPLE.

The masses do not recognize file-sharing and downloading as stealing because there’s a copy left behind for you — it’s not that copy that’s the problem, it’s the other one that someone received but didn’t pay for. The problem is that nobody will pay you for the 10,000 hours you put in to create what you created. I can only imagine the frustration of all that work, and having no one value it enough to pay you for it.

It’s very sad for new bands. My heart goes out to them. They just don’t have a chance. If you play guitar, it’s almost impossible. You’re better off not even learning how to play guitar or write songs, and just singing in the shower and auditioning for The X Factor. And I’m not slamming The X Factor, or pop singers. But where’s the next Bob Dylan? Where’s the next Beatles? Where are the songwriters? Where are the creators? Many of them now have to work behind the scenes, to prop up pop acts and write their stuff for them.” – Gene Simmons

And this is just a fragment. They are talking a lot more about this in the interview, and I don’t understand why it’s so hard for people to get it through their heads.

Don’t. Fucking. Download. Albums. Illegally.

You are LITERALLY killing the bands you love by doing this. LITERALLY. If you buy the CD physically or through iTunes – I don’t care. As long as you fucking PAY for it. People need to fucking understand that this is STEALING. And you are STEALING not from a big corporation, but from people who have given up their LIVES to do this. And you need to get it through your head, that without CD sales, the band isn’t gonna get any gigs. So don’t come here with the gigs drama shit. Because without recordsales, no gigs.

So GET IT THROUGH YOUR FUCKING HEAD you people who download album illegally.

You. Are. DESTROYING. For. The. Band. You. Love.

What weirds me out even more is when aspiring musicians do it. Like, you wanna be in the industry, and you want to work with this, but you ain’t willing to pay for the others who do the same thing? And this crap about “I want to check it out before I buy it”… Am I the only one who actually likes the sort of roulette thing that it is to buy an album by a band you don’t know, and just see how it goes? I have albums I rarely listen to. But I tell you one thing.

I do not. NOT. NEVER. EVER. regret buying a CD. Not even if I didn’t like it that well. Because regardless if I don’t like it, there is STILL people – producers, engineers, photographers/graphics and most importantly – the musicians who made it, who at least GETS PAID.

That’s the most important thing.

Jesus, I can go on and on and on about this subject, and I probably will. This subject is close to heart.

And I will be so fucking proud to die amongst my huge recordcollection

Day 15 – A song that describes you

Posted in 30 Day Song Challenge, Uncategorized on September 3, 2014 by Sara Hammerzmith

At first I sat clueless and didn’t really know what to put up to this one. But then it hit me, and it hit me hard.

She” by finnish band Stala&SO. . It’s not too personal, but it’s more about the life as a fan, you know. All the concerts. All the travels. All the night’s spent at Vaanta airport, all the long bustravels, trainrides, all those pit-stops in towns which names you can’t even pronounce (both Swedish and other countries).

All those saggy, wet and close to disgustin SubWay sandwiches that are essential for travelling. All the queueing in line, meeting new friends, meeting old friends. Seeing the band you love. All of that. It’s such a big part of my life, that it in a way comes to describe me. I’ve been in the newspapers because of this interest once before, so I guess it defines me in a way. And that is fine. I’m absolutely cool with that.

However, don’t take it too literally. I think I might have to point out here that I have for instance never been used by a band or so that I like (I know some people have gotten hung up over things like this, so I might just as well put it out there)

But yes. “She” by Stala&SO.

Lady Axa

Posted in Uncategorized on September 2, 2014 by Sara Hammerzmith

Okay so.. I don’t really know how to write this, or what to write, but I figured I must say something.

While scrolling through Facebook today, I noticed some odd facebook updates that forced me to go and check my stables guestbook. Once there, I learned that Lady Axa is about to be put down.

For now, I feel mostly emptiness. First of all, this came out of nowhere and I’m literally just dumbfounded right now. I guess I haven’t realized it just yet, that she’s going away. I was in the stable, riding, just a few hours ago, and had no idea. I hope I get the chance to say good bye.

Lady Axa was my first real favorite horse in the stable since Pickles, and Lady Axa was also the only reason I stayed at the stable. I don’t even know what to say right now. I guess I’m still a bit shocked. I think I need to let this melt a bit.

Well, I figured I’d tell you what’s going on, so this will be the reason for lack of activity or quality.

Day 14 – A song that no one would expect you to love

Posted in 30 Day Song Challenge, Uncategorized on September 1, 2014 by Sara Hammerzmith

This one, my friends. is hard. Most of you people know I listen to pretty much every kind of music, so I don’t really think anything I could put up here would be a too big of a surprise. BUT – I did come to think of one song that might surprise you.

“The Deal (No Deal)” from the musical Chess, here performed by Tommy Körberg, Murray Head and Elaine Page. I’m actually very weak for musicals, the bombastic arrangements and epic moments. This song particularly stand out for me, mostly because of the break where they start singing “Who’d ever think, it’s such a squalid little ending..”. Absolutely love the greatness, and I mean. How can one not love Tommy Körberg, The Voice? You can’t.

I actually had the blessing to catch Chess live once, back in… good question. I have no idea what year I saw it, but it was in Oslo, and Glam, Åge Sten Nilsen from Wig Wam was playing the part of The Arbiter. Even though I had initially gone there for Åge, I fell in love with the musical.

To this date, this musical is one of my absolute favorites.
