So, tonight is Amaranthe’s releaseparty for their newest album, “MASSIVE ADDICTIVE” set to be released on 21st or possible 22nd October (keep getting different information about this) and I SOOO wish I could have been there! But, instead of pitying myself, I’m blasting the new album here at home.
And here’s the thing. There is one song on the album, I won’t say which one prior to me reviewing the album officially, the chorus of the song makes me immediatley go “I’ve heard this somewhere before”.
The tricky part, is that I can’t locate WHERE I’ve heard it before. I can swear to fucking GOD that I HAVE heard this chorus, or at least something extremely similar somewhere else. My gut says this is something Dschinghis Khan, which makes me think I might have heard this in Eurovision Song Contest. But I really can’t put my finger on it.
I have the same situation with “The Devil in I” by SlipKnot. There, it’s only a small stick, more precisely the sticks between 1:30 – 1:49 “You and I, can’t decide, which of us was taken for granted, take commands, some of us are destined to be out left” (or whatever he sings) and 2:44 – 3:03, and here I gave up on trying to hear what he sings, but yes.
I somehow get a feeling that it could be Bon Jovi‘s “Only Lonely” from “7800 Farenheit” released in 1985. Like, take the first verse, from perhaps 0:50 up to the chorus. Am I the only one who feels the similarness? Or am I just out of my mind here.
Of course guys, I don’t mean in any way that the Knot has plagiarized Jovi, it’s just… similar! Or is it only me? Do you readers recognize it from somewhere else?
Either way. It doesn’t solve my problem with Amaranthe. And it seriously grinds my cores.
As promised, in celebration of the release of “Nailed By The Hammer of Frankenstein”, Lordi’s most recent single, here is my throwback entry about my very first Lordi gig back in 2006. I had to dig up some old photos for this, so excuse the delay. Put on the new single, and enjoy the party.
All inclusive – Four days with Lordi, including sleep-over!
Alright. So, as you guys probably have understood so far, my first full Lordi gig happened on September 19th 2006. The location was Gothenburg, the arena was Lisebergshallen. I went to this gig together with one of my closest friends at the time, Lina, and as it happens, it’s her birthday today! and her friend Catrin. We started queueing for the show around 12, in the morning or how to put it in order to get in the frontrow. We were obviously first in line, despite this being 2006 it didn’t seem Lordi had that many hardcore fans in the town for the night.
The queueing was pretty much what queueing always is – hilarious. Loads of laughing, loads of anticipation and perhaps madness. I recorded a lot of videos during the day, and gladly, some of them are put together in the video I’ll link below. It’s from this legendary video and night we’ve gotten the expression “One day with Lordi – All inclusive” which I’ve used many times when writing about my experiences as a Lordi fan.
Here’s a fun story. We eventually decided we would go up to people and ask them if they liked Lordi, if they were going to the show and things like that, but it wasn’t a lot of people coming around. There was however one person who we saw coming in the distant, and we thought about asking him. However, we were too shy to actually go up to him, so I just snapped a picture of him for some reason. Later on, when reviewing this picture a little closer, we realized that we had been very close to walk up to MR AMEN HIMSELF to ask him if he liked Lordi. I kinda wish today that we had done it. Just for the hell of it to see his reaction.
Lina outside Liseberg
When it got closer to opening time, more and more people started to come and gather around the doors. After a while, it got pretty crowded and then it happened, the one thing that aren’t allowed to happen. They opened the other doors.
We had throughout the day asked the staff about which of the gates would open, and they had repeatedly told us that it was the main gates, the ones we were at, that would be opened first. Good. But then, when it was finally time, they opened the sitegates instead. Do you understand. We had been queueing for 7 hours, and then we weren’t even let in first, not even NEAR to be let in first. This still to this day pisses me off, and this is why I have no trust at all for venuepeople and doors if they have multiple.
Well well. Eventually we got it in, got sucky places of course in the middle of everything. Supportact for the night was a Swedish band called Sabaton. I’m not sure if you guys ever heard of them, but they are a Swedish band from Falun singing about wars, mainly*. The show was energetic, and for me, who at the time was only familiar with Wig Wam and Lordi, this was pretty revolutionary. What the hell is this.
Fun story: Lordi was having different supportacts throughout the tour, and for some reason I had mixed Sabaton up with another band, so I thought the band was German. And me and denial are good friends, so despite the singer (apparently called Jocke) talked Swedish, I still thought they were German. I still have the text I sent to my best friend that night.
“Not sure what band is playing, but for being a German band the singer speaks pretty good Swedish!”
I was, at the time, blown away by the gig. I caught the keyboardist (apparently called Daniel) actually raising his keyboard as if it was a guitar! Crazy! I sadly do not have a picture to share with you guys about this, as I can’t find the original folder with all the pictures. Fun note: The singer asked us to jump for their last song (I think it was called ‘Primo Victoria’ or something) and Lina just looked at me and went “WE CAN’T JUMP NOW? WE NEED TO SAVE ENERGY FOR LORDI!” And I agreed with her. Haha, oh the fangirlness.
But yeah. It was entertaining as hell! I heard the band is doing pretty good these days though, glad to hear!
Anyway. After the show, both Catrine and Lina was carried out because of the heat, and I got scared being left alone so the guards carried me out too. So we went from bad spots to even worse spots. I was never actually carried backstage or anything, I just got out of the crowd. So there I was. All alone. Awaiting Lordi. And after a little waiting… the lightning went off, “SCG:3” started and then they fired the whole thing off with “Bringing Back The Balls To Rock”.
I was just like OH MY GOD ITS LORDI ITS LORDI ITS LORDI ITS LORDI. AAHHHH. MY GOD. LORDI LORDI LORDILORDILORDILORDI.
Right after this song I found Lina again, so I did get to enjoy the gig together with her. Sadly, I couldn’t find the folder with all my pictures from the night, so I can’t give you a full setlist. They played a lot more songs than the songs featured on the DVD from Stockholm, but yeah, the DVD gives you a good hint of what songs was played.
Ahh, where do I begin to talk about the gig. I was really just in awe for everything. And scared. These monsters terrified me at the time, but oh my god. I remember how OX yelled the wrong city (Malmö instead of Gothenburg). How I had planned to record snippets of every song, but when Kita had finished his drumsolo and fired off a bazooka so loud that I jumped 500 feet in the air and accidently turned off my camera. Like how the whole stagesetting amazed me. How the band amazed me. Since I don’t have access to photos nor videos it’s hard for me to point out specific things when it’s this long ago, but I really remembered how blown away I was from it all.
From seeing my favorite band for the first time. When they got down to playing “Hard Rock Hallelujah” we were all really sad, could it really be the end already? Already? No…
But it wasn’t over. Not for us. A few days prior to the show, Amen had given us backstagepasses. So while the other guests left the arena, we hung around waiting for their at the time tourmanager Tomi Niemi. Eventually he came and took our names, and asked us to wait at the seats, as he was picking up the rest of the people. The disturbing thing about this, is that we had yet not found Catrin. We called out her name, but she was nowhere to be found. So we ended up going backstage without her.
Ahh, I remember it all so well. How we passed those black curtains that separate us mortals from the band, how we walked down the stairs from the seats and then up the hellishly long stair to the backstage area, and that the first person I run into in the small corridor is Mr Lordis wife.I got so starstruck when I crashed into her, it isn’t even funny.
They took us to this conferance room and someone joked about us seeing a movie. Lina and I, shy as we were, sat down in the back row, as far away from the front as possible. After waiting for what felt like forever we heard dunk…. dunk…. dunk…. And there was OX.
And then Kita.
Mr Lordi.
Awa.
Amen.
RIGHT THERE. RIGHT IN FUCKING FRONT OF US. I couldn’t breathe, I got scared and starstruck and I was so happy we were in the back.
No one made any approaches to the band, everybody just sat in their seats. Kita asked why no one was coming up, and a guy yelled out “We are scared of you!” in which Kita responds with a “Ok, bye!” and almost walks out of the room before laughing and returning. Eventually people started approaching them, but not us. We were still scared. We stood in the back and took pictures of them instead.
And that’s when it happened.
That’s when I see Kita point right at me. Waving to me and saying “Ey!! come over here!” in a cheerful matter. The story behind this, is that I was wearing a Kita faceshirt to the gig. People knowing me should be no stranger as to how much I love Kita. Did I go? Of course not. Kita kept calling out for me, and by now, OX has also noticed us and Lina’s OX faceshirt and started to call us over as well. The pressure from the two became a little big, so very hesitantly we started going over there.
Tommi met us halfway taking our cameras so he could take pictures of us with the band. On shaky legs I walked up to Kita, looking down at the floor. I was too scared to even risk meeting any of the monstars eyes and suddenly I feel someone grabbing me, not only by my arm, but like across all of me. At this point I stop walking, only to realize I’m moments away from crashing right into OX. I slowly look up his ribcage, his neck and at last meets his green eyes that are staring down at me. I’m pretty positive my eyes were big as tomatoes and about to pop out of my head.
That someone who grabbed me, eventually turned me over, told me he thought my shirt was really cool and embraced me, half-way at least. If you haven’t guessed already. This “someone” who grabbed me, turned me over and embraced me was no one else than Kita himself. Tommi quickly snapped a picture of me and Lina and OX and Kita, and I was shaking like a LEAF I’m telling you. I’ve never been this nervous in my entire life.
I went to my bag and picked up the poster I had brought to get signed and started making my way arond the members. I started with Amen who was the furthest away. Didn’t say anything to him as I can remember, and then moved on to Mr Lordi who stood for a good while turning my poster up side down to find a good angle to sign it from. Went to Awa, then back to Kita and OX. While Lina was running around getting autographs, Awa approached me.
I must have looked so scared, because she was so sweet in her approach. She went up to me and said “Hej, bor du i Göteborg?”. This means, “Hey, do you live in Gothenburg?”. I got so confused that she was talking Swedish to me and I was just like “n-n-no…”. Then I remember that she actually speaks Swedish. She continued on telling they had been all around the city today, to Hard Rock Café and everything and that she loved the city. Then she told me that’s all the Swedish that she knows and I told her it was cool, or something like that. I really just nodded and smiled to whatever she said.
Awa got occupied with some other fans, in which Kita approaches me. I’m so glad these monstars actually do this – approach their fans. I was so scared and nervous and didn’t dare to talk to any of them, and I’m beyond grateful that they actually came up to me and didn’t just be like “ah, she doesn’t care!”. Anyway, he came up me and asked me if this was truly everything we wanted to have signed, like all of us, and I told him that yeah, I guess so. He told me he was surprised, because it happens in Finland sometimes that people bring like 20 copies of one album to get signed.
It isn’t until now I understand what Kita was talking about. And I think all your Lordifans knows what, or rather, who, he was talking about.
After this while, the monstars said good night and we were escorted out of the arena. Outside we finally met up with Catten again who was a little bummed she had missed out on the M&G, but she was happy anyway. After this, I went home to Karlstad and they went home to their places, and that was the end of an amazing day. A truly, amazing, day.
You know. This is probably, even to this day, one of my most cherized memories ever. This night was so special. Maybe it’s because of my first encounter with the monstars, maybe not, I’m not sure at all. But when writing this, I have felt my heart starting to pound faster, my arms getting weaker and my hands starting to shake. I have literally gone back to the exact feeling I had that night, and it almost makes me cry right here right now out of happiness. This night was the best ever, thanks to Lina, Kita and the rest of the band.
And this, my friends, is the story of my first Lordi gig, and my first meeting with the band. It’s been 8 years, and a lot of things have happened since. But this, this can’t be beaten. Ever. I guess it’s something about being 15 and meeting your band for the first time.

Mwaaaa!! Guess what I got today! THIS PRECIOUS THING!
It’s Honey Hellraiser’s debutalbum! And it’s signed! The story behind this is actually that I won a contest they hosted on their Facebook page. I haven’t written about the win ’til now, because I like secrets like this. I literally went all MIHIHIHIIHIH when I came home from school today and found the envelope with the CD inside on the table.
First of all, in case you people don’t know, Honey Hellraiser is a finnish three-piece band from Karkkila. They have previously released two eps, “All Night Tonight” and “Pick Your Poison“, and this is their debut-album. I was so excited to see this come out as I’ve followed the band a few years by now.
What can I say about the album though? First of all – it’s very typical Honey. Not in the way where the band is plagiarizing itself, but you can still tell from far away that it’s the Honeys. And for you who are unfamiliar with the band – Honey Hellraisers music, how would you say it, pretty pure finnish sleaze in the vibe of Crashdiet with some of the best elements from the 80’s. Even the lyrics are rooted pretty deep in Crashdiet, but with a lighter, and at some points even more humorous vibe to it, as in example “Manager” and “Leave That Bitch”.
This is the kind of CD that you put into your CD player and then you crank the volume up to ten, or as in my case, twenty and blast the hell out of it and just enjoy the distorted guitars and raunchy sounds. The mixing of the albums fits the sound pretty good, although there might be a few tweaks here and there that could be done a little differently.
Over all, I think this is a pretty darn good record. I get so happy whenever I hear the Honey’s CDs and hear how they evolve in becoming better and better for every time and record that passes, and it gives me a lot of hope. The record is promising and I really, really believe in this band.
If you like bands as Crashdiet or Santa Cruz, this is a band right down your alley. Check out the album on Spotify, or buy your own copy at CDON, iTunesor Levykauppa ÄX. I’m just gonna go ahead and blast it just one more time. And perhaps another time after that.
Well well! Wasn’t the timing perfect or what? Just a day or two after me discussing Lordi’s new costumes, SlipKnot releases a video where you can CLEARLY see their masks, and I figured we’d for the third time go through them. Apparently this videoclip is actually hidden, so instead of embedding it, I’ll link it right here for you.
But okay, let’s talk masks, shall we? I’ll start with Corey, because he freaks the hell out of me so I just want to get it over with. ALL footage below are taken from the video, and are the property of SlipKnot / Roadrunner Records.
Goddamnit. I’ve seen this mask now for the 347238472th time, and it STILL TERRIFIES ME TO DEATH. I just can’t get used to this. It’s something inside of me that is just dead scared of this. I’m not sure what the hell it is, but jesus almighty. I can’t look at it. I guess the job is somewhat done if I can’t even look at it.
The new bassplayer, rumored Alessandro Venturella. This closeup allows you to see the texture a lot better, and it kinda feels like a plastered version of Paul, and I think it’s specifically the nose that makes me think of Paul. I love the detail with the 9-star at the forehead too. Kinda enhances the idea of them standing out as replacements instead of getting their own individual characters.
Let’s move on immediatley with the new drummer, rumored Jay Weinberg or possibly Roy Magora(commentfield). Up and close I have to take back my previous statement about the masks being not so similar, because they are dead similar. I still feels like this could be a plastered version of Joey, but it might be my mind that are playing me tricks. Maybe it’s the hair. I don’t know really.
Sadly, #6 are covering most of his face in this shot, but it still shows off some details I hadn’t paid attention too before, like the “burnt” off skin on the side, or the scar over the eye. While I still find him a bit scary due to my fear of clowns, I still think this is probably his least terrifying of masks he’s had throughout the years.
#3. Can I just say something crazy? (I LOVE CRAZY!) No ok. But anyway – I can not tell you enough how much I’m in love with Chris’ eyes. Like. HIS EYES. GODDAMNIT. HE HAS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PAIR OF EYES I HAVE EVER SEEN. Perhaps his mask enhances the effect of his eyes, I don’t know, but seriously, I can’t, masked or not, stop staring at his gorgeous eyes. Anyway, like I’ve said previously, it’s a steelmask, at least to the look of it, rather than the green/red/beige/whatever he had before. I like the details with the seam right over the face. Love it. This is nothing but an improvement!
133 #5. YES. THE SPIKES ARE LONGER. I’ve noticed a lot of people have commented this, so it wasn’t only in my head! I love how they in a way are in the shape of a pyramid. Or like sunrays. I don’t know. Aside that, I think it’s pretty much the same as the previous eras. Silent little 133.
#0. I still think he looks like a fly. A cute, bondage fly. However, this screenshot confirms that the steelplate IS Indeed removable, juast as I thought. Apart from the fact it isn’t a full gasmask anymore, I wouldn’t say it’s a too big of a difference from last. But I do like the update.
#7. Now, can we please, please talk about Mick’s mask? Like, I already talked about how the extra “wrinkles” around his mouth makes me think it adds so much intensity, but hey, can we talk about the crack? OR PERHAPS THE YELLOW STAINS? It’s like someone hit him in the head with a brick (most likely thrown by Clown) and cracked his skull and now there’s a lot of pus coming out of the wound. And it’s making it’s way down to his eyes, infecting his eyes so he cries blood (inside of his mask) leaving even more pus coming out of the eyes.
Ok – joke aside. LOVE THIS. Just fucking love this. This could possibly be my favorite mask out of the bunch, just by these details.
Last but not least – loveydovey #4. Seeing it up close we can conduct one thing – This is going back to “All Hope is Gone” but keeping a BIG self-titled vibe to it with the wrinkles. I’m sort of glad they took away the red parts, I always prefered him with only the black marks. Can we, on the other hand, just discuss the beard? Or you know, love the beard? Like. I absolutely LOVE how they made the mask fit the beard for ultra-epic-beardness! Adds a lot to this jokerimage.
Well, that’s that I guess. It’s only a little more than a month left ’til the new album and I’m getting sooo pumped, like I’ve said millions of times by now. But god. While I do not want time to go faster, I sure as hell can’t wait for time to go faster.

Remember a few days ago when I wrote about the new Amaranthe song “Drop Dead Cynical”? Well guess what! The new video is here!
As you all know, I care a lot for the song, however, I’m a bit torn about the music video. Perhaps it’s because I don’t really get it, with all the fighting that goes on, however – the band looks better than ever. Energetic and put together. I’m also more thrilled than anything that we get to see Elize show off the dancer in her in this video. I’m not sure how many people are actually aware of the fact she IS a dancer, and fail to see that and just see a pretty lady.
But yes! The video is well-done, and it makes me even more pumped and excited for the new album. Anyone else?
So, it’s been a little while since Lordi came out with their new costumes, but it isn’t until now that they have released single shots of all the costumes and I figured I’d sum them up in this entry in order to talk a little bit more about the costumes on an individual level.
We’ll start off with Miss Hella. First of all. LOVE the New-Rock sort of Shoes. I can’t say exactly if it is actual New-Rock shoes, but they look damn similar! I love heels and I love stilettos, so yes ma’m! Good choice. Even though I loved the way she looked before, this update is beyond amazing. I got so dead excited when I saw her new clothing and all this almost bondage kind of thing going on. Now THIS, is clothing wise someone I could cosplay defintely. The only thing I’ having a small issue with is as I’ve stated before – the hair. I really, TRULY enjoyed her blonde hair, but you know. Black suits her, even though I get the feeling she might have changed a bit from her original story.
Next up is Rev. Mana. And first of all. WHAT THE HELL HAVE HAPPENED WITH HIS HANDS. Please tell me this is just an awkward pose? Like what on earth is going on? However, this picture kinda confirms what I thought before – that his hair is really just pulled back, not removed, and I’m glad to see it. He, just as Hella has ALSO changed haircolor, but I must admit I don’t mind it as much on him. It’s really tomato tomato on him. He also went from his half-colored clothing to more darker clothing, but I assume this is something that goes hand in hand with the era. I love all the steel-plates that are going on here.
Mr OX. OK, People – can we just appreciate the carving in his forehead? Can we just sit here and just love it. It’s perfect. I can’t even motivate why, but when I first saw the costumes it was one of the first things I noticed and I literally just squealed on the inside a bit. If you look closely on his mask, you’ll see he almost got this chesire-cat kind of smile all over his face, making him ultra-creepy. And the extra spikes doesn’t exactly make things less intimidating. Seriously OX – you just got EVERYTHING right for this era. However, am I the only one who gets a bit taken back to the Babez era with this?
Amen-Ra. In all honesty, the costume is basically going back to Babez era, the mask being Deadache, with a few small improvements. However, is this a bad thing? Not at all – I’ve always considered Amen’s Babez costume my favorite of his (at least that I was a part of to experience) so I’m glad to see this change. Not a lot of changes have happened, but I see one thing that I love and that is right in the chest area. Where you can see all the muscles exposed without the skin. I love this kind of thing, THESE are the kind of things that freak me out.
And the Big L himself. HERE on the other hand, a lot of things are going on. First of all. The fucking heads on his thighs. Maybe it’s fucked proportions, but seriously. The lower jaw is beneath his knee, and then the rest of the skull / face is covering half his thighs. Like Oh my fucking god. Talking about an upgrade! From small faces on the knee to one that covers this much? Intense. The boots too. I can count up to five faces on this costume as of now, and I’ve only reached his crotch (uhuhuh). The boots terrify me though. It’s like they are mocking me or something, with that grin.
His upperbody is now covered in spikes instead of the mixture of patterns it was before, and I’m not sure if this is a upgrade or a downgrade. The costume as a whole is absolutely amazing, and I guess the work and details put into the five faces makes up for the lack of creativity for the rest. I get a bit of a Get Heavy vibe from it. Not sure why, maybe it’s the mask. I think the mask is pretty fine, I’ve always been a fan of his Arockalypse one and this feels like it, and I LOVE the extensions of the horns on his head.
(All photos posted are property of Lordi)
Here’s more of a close up of the masks. As you can see, no major changes mask-wise was actually been done to either member. Hella and Mana are pretty much the same, Amen and Mr L has gone back in time (aside the horns) and the only one who has actually had some changes done are OX. It’s almost like with Mick from the Knot – more wrinkles to add more intensity, you know? The grin on his face disturbs me and I’ll ask of everyone that we won’t stand on OX’s side whenever we go to a Lordi show, thank you very much.
So again, readers, any thoughts on the costumes or the masks? Or any comment in general? Up to discussion!
It’s now only four days left for the single, and a million days left ’til the album. Excitement evolves!
// Sara 4 days ’til “Nailed by the Hammer of Frankenstein” 9 days ’til Lady Gaga 36 days ’til “MASSIVE ADDICTIVE” 36 days ’til “Vol 5: The Grey Chapter” 46 days ’til “Scare Force One” 47 days ’til Lordi
This one, I can’t really answer. I never, and I mean, never, listen to the radio. I guess it has happened occasionally when riding in someone elses car (I never have the radio on in my own car) but it has never been to the extent where I’ve paid attention to what I actually heard being played, if there was any music at all.
So yes. I don’t really know what to make of this. I can’t even recall what song I might have heard last. But, I figured I shouldn’t leave you all here without a song, so I’ll put up a song I’ve heard a lot while working lately (to keep it short and anonymous, you could I say I work at various nightclubs). I guess this might make up for it a little bit, no?
“Turn Down For What” by Lil Jon and DJ Snake. This is pretty far out of my comfort-zone as music goes, and I can’t really write anything about the song or the artists. Like I said. It’s been blasted a lot on the clubs lately, at least as I can recall. This immediatley makes me think of work though. And it makes me think of the smell of alcohol. Sweet.

Later last night, after I posted my entry already, SlipKnot released a full shot of the new masks/line up.
(Photo property of SlipKnot)
First of all, I realize with this picture that the bassplayer and the drummers masks aren’t at all as identical as I thought they were. They are alike indeed, but not the exact same. I still stand by that the masks looks like a cross-over between Paul’s Iowa mask and Kalmas (Lordi), but I also feel that the drummers are somewhat in a far distance… resembles Joey’s? It hits me just now as I write this, that it’s almost like corpse versions of the respective members masks?
Or perhaps I’m just going waaay out of line here and overthinking things, but yes. It intrigues me, and I guess it’ll be all much clearer when we get more shots, and perhaps more individual shots (AND WHO EVEN ARE THESE PEOPLE? SLIPKNOT FOR GODS SAKE)
I don’t really know what to add more to what I wrote yesterday more than that I think Sid is absolutely adorable. I’m not sure if it’s the mask or if I just see him move around before my eyes, but seriously, him as a human being are just absolutely adorable. But you know – like someone commented on Facebook: “Screw the masks – Look at Root’s beard!”
Yes. I think we should all just embrace the power of the beard that stands strong with #4.
Like, I said yesterday, today was going to be exciting. SlipKnot’s new musicvideo for “The Devil in I” was released earlier today.
Well, what can I say?
FIRST OF ALL. I’m gonna start off here with saying that at the MERE SIGHT of Corey’s new mask made me move as far away from the computer as I possibly could. I shit you not, NEVER EVER have I instinctively moved away the way I did now. And when I couldn’t move anymore I started crying. THAT is how much his new mask terrifies me. I don’t even know why, but JESUS. I sat here shaking and crying because of COREY(#8), not Clown(#6) (terrified of clowns). God. I don’t even know.
Anyway, aside the fear of Corey, I love pretty much everything that’s going on in this video. I’ve previously stated I’m not a too big of a fan of the song, and while that still stands, I am a HUGE fan of the video. It’s grotesque, it’s gory and while making no sense at all, it makes perfect sense. This is pretty much something I’d expect from them.
Let’s start off discussing the masks. This is #8’s new. As you can see, it’s technically not that scary or advanced, but it’s something about it that just freaks the hell out of me. I think it’s the leatherface kind of thing – that he has this extra layer of skin as he can rip off (as you can see in the images). And perhaps it’s the fact he is still so human, but yet not, unlike the others who are more “monster” like, or how to put it.
Next up is my loveydovey and #3. I can’t exactly say there has been done any major changes, aside changing #3’s green mask for a steel silver one, which looks awesome. #4’s mask has gone back to the “All Hope is Gone” era, which I LOVE because I thought his mask was the absolute best at that point. I also love how they made sure to make it fit the beard also. This was is just perfect.
#6 and #5. #5 has barely had any changes at all, besides having the spikes made longer. Or maybe it’s just me? No. They have definitely been made longer. It’s another story with #6 though. The first thing that came to mind when I saw him pop up in the video was Chucky the Doll, and the first thing I said when I saw him was “Euuuuuuuuuhhhwwww”. But for some reason I adjusted pretty quickly. Still terrifying to some extent though.
#7 and #0. God, some of these screencaps are just so bad, but this was the best I could muster. The crack in the skull and the extra wrinkles are a nice update of #7’s mask, and makes the mask… more intense, if you like. Not sure how to put it better. The shot of #0 is so bad, but I hope you can see a bit. He still has his gasmask, but he’s got an additional steel-plate to cover his mouth (I think this one is removable). He reminds me of a fly when I see him like this, haha. But yes. Love the updates.
Then my friends, we have the two newbies. I’m not sure at all who these people are but, we’ll give them some room!
Unnamed drummer (Weinberg?) and unnammed bassplayer (Donnie?). Their masks are pretty similar, which is why I didn’t put all my life into finding a perfect shot of the drummer. The masks makes me think of some mixture between Paul Gray’s Iowa mask and Kalmas mask, for some reason. Fits them both though, and they mix in well with the bands image.
I must admit, I kinda like the idea of them having identical masks. Like, SlipKnot talked a lot about being “the nine guys” and once they start dropping off for various reasons, their spots are being filled, but they are never replaced. And I kinda like the idea that they’d continue this way. Like, in case Jim leaves, they take in a new guitarists and put on an exact kind of mask that these two has, like, in a way to separate the newbies from the oldies. It sounds a bit harsh putting it this way, but I just like the image of it, that you can literally SEE what people are not original members.
So people, have any opinions on the mask or the video or any comments in general? Up to discussion people!

Tomorrow is an extremely exciting day. SlipKnot will release their new video for “The Devil in I” and on the same time, the tickets for Steel Panthers shows next year are being released. There are so many great things coming my way lately, and I guess it’s true what they say – whoever waits, gets it. Not sure if that is the proper saying in English, but regardless.
For anyone who cares, I’ll be attending the Steel Panther gig in Oslo, Norway. Reason? Many. One would be that Oslo is actually the closest city. But more importantly, they managed to put their one Swedish date RIGHT on the same day as Katy Perry is playing in Stockholm. And I’m SO going to see Katy Perry I’m telling you, and yes, I have tickets already. So it’s gonna be Oslo the day before for some Steel Panther and then jump on the bus and go straight to Stockholm for Katy Perry. What a nice weekend it will be.
But aside that, while having “The Nexus” blasting, I took the oppurtunity today to do something I’ve planned for a while: to get my speakers for my vinylplayer set up. My dad wanted to put them in the Lordishelf, and before it was turned into a Lordishelf, it was impossible to put in anything else there because of the junk there prior to the Lordi thing. So I squeezed in all the Lordi stuff on the one side, and then I squeezed the junk together and finally got my speakers in. I can’t wait until I can finally use my vinylplayer.
I’m proud over how I squeezed everything together. It’s a total of 15 Lordishirts piled there, and I’m glad I could make room for all the new merchandise that’s coming our way….
