For the first time in a very long time, here comes a The Sims update!

So basically, despite only playing for perhaps 12 hours in total, quite a bit has happened. First of all, I finished off her career as a criminal, in the Oracle “field” that is. I kept the job for a few days, until I moved on to Artist, paintings, that is. I finished that career as well, moving pretty fast here and I’ve just started her on her new career within the technician field.

However, something kind of caught my attention. My plan with Anna was to have her have ALL the careers – including both fields… but when looking at Criminal nowadays, I can only find the career for oracle. I need to do some investigation in this, because honestly, it’d suck if I couldn’t go back and do the other way with this particular sim. I really can’t be bothered to build up YET a new one just to have the other jobs… Sigh.

I guess we will see.

Here Comes The Vultures

After finishing up some work I’m supposed to take some time off, to have some fun. However, I’ve been working so much (literally every day) that I’ve forgotten what fun is. Gladly, I do have this precious evening off and I will continue it by playing The Sims 4 for the first time in forever.

But at least, things are looking very good right now. I was worried for a split second, that Australia wouldn’t happen, that it’d be ruined by the rest of the shows we have planned. But gladly it won’t, since I have money incoming from places I didn’t think of at first.

So yeah. I’m really starting to get excited now. It’s hard to think about the fact that in a couple of months from now, I’ll be in Australia. Or even New Zealand. We haven’t properly talked through what and how we will spend or Oceania visit, but regardless, it will be epic. It will be good weather (I hope), good friends and a really good time.

Sadly, there are so many things I’d like to be able to afford before going there, and I truly hope I can manage it.

I guess we will only see.

Now, The Sims 4. For the first time in a long time.

So finally, after some time, I’ve gotten myself a new passport. It expired in September, and I had planned originally to get a new one first when I needed one, but then I all of a sudden planned a trip to Belgium and had to do it sooner rather than later. And then I forgot about it, and then I finally got to it and did it.

So, it feels weird in a way. Like the end of an era. I used the old passport the first time going to Finland in 2010 for Lordi’s releasegig for “Babez For Breakfast”. BABEZ! That is like three albums back from where we are now! I’ve seen so many places with this passport. This passport took me to Denmark, to the United Kingdom, to Spain, it has taken me to Germany, to Italy, to Belgium… And now we write a new chapter with the new passport.

The last ever trip I used my passport for was to the Noch Ein Bier fest in Germany. And the first trip with my new passport will be to Belgium and Wolfsnäschte tour + Delain’s tour.

So yeah, the end of an era and let’s start a new, five year era with lots of new countries, concerts and people.

Dismal

Posted in Uncategorized on October 7, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

If we look away from all the boring things that is work and school and all the adultish must, I actually went up a little, LITTLE earlier than usual today in order to buy some very, very important thing.

SlipKnot tickets.

You see, being a Outside The 9 member, you get a pre-sale code (a code SlipKnot has a tendency to give out publicly on FB anyway later on) which you can use to get tickets before everyone else that hasn’t bothered to sign up for the maillist that is OT9. So, even if I got up early, it was quite casually. So casually I even forgot it for a while until a picture of the band popped up on my dash and I was like “Oh. Right.”.

Said and done, tickets are in box, and hotels are booked for literally every show we have left this year, even though we currently only hold tickets for Nightwish and Mötley Crüe, but now we don’t have to worry about hotels or buses or anything like that, we can for now focus only on Australia, which is quite a relief. I have a few more buses and such to book, but it’s a no biggie.

Talking about the rest of the year. I wonder why it is, the fact that you always get tickets to the show who are the furthers away in time. We don’t hold HammerFall tickets, which is technically the next coming show, but we sure as hell hold tickets to SlipKnot and Toto.

Why?

School’s Out

Posted in Uncategorized on October 6, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

If we look away from everything that is work, we had a, in my opinion, pretty good band rehearsals. We’re still working with Alice Cooper’s “I’m Eighteen”, and I’d say that we have done some major progress. Like, I know I miss out here and there, and that I screw up here and there in my playing, BUT, it feels smooth.

Like, I keep going, I don’t miss out on some of the fills, started to add some more fills slowly but surely, and it got pretty good. It finally feels good you know? That we are really getting somewhere. Slowly, but getting there.

And speaking of getting somewhere, I find it amusing, more amusing than anything, that we can’t ourselves set a date for when to come home from Australia, but after further inspection, I notice that the time period we have thought fits PERFECTLY between SlipKnot and Toto. It’s getting closer and closer to be confirmed now, that I’m actually getting a little scared. AUSTRALIA?! Haha.

So once again, thank you, Toto and SlipKnot, for making our decisions when we can’t.

So, something I’ve been anticipating for some time, is SlipKnot’s return to Sweden. After they announced a few shows in Russia, I was more than certain they’d come along soon enough. And today, my friends, the dates were announced!

January 20th next year, city is Gothenburg and venue is the Scandinavium.

As you can see, this makes somewhat of a clash with our original plans to go to Australia, as Lordi has their first show on January 23rd. So at first, we were superbummed, but figured we’d get tickets just in case rather than missing out and then missing out on Australia too, but then I took a closer look at the flights and I saw the light.

I saw that there was a possibility for us to do both SlipKnot and Australia.

It will be tight as hell of course, but it’ll be such a rush. Running from place to place, once again. And thankfully, this has forced us to finally choose a date to when we will arrive in Australia. And, since Toto plays in February some time, so it kind of gives us a time frame to work with for Australia.

So, SlipKnot next year – I’ll be there, maybe I’ll see you there, and thanks to the Knot and Toto, we have finally started to get somewhere with our planning.

Eight Years

Posted in Uncategorized on October 4, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

So, apparently, I’ve been blogging at WordPress for eight years. And this means I’ve been blogging for eight years. Eight, long, years on the same blog.

It has changed. It was in Swedish, then English, then Swedish again and now back to English since I realized I wrote mostly for myself, but also for my close friends and 90% of my close friends are non-Swedish speakers, so here it goes.

And since I write a lot about non-Swedish bands, it makes only sense to write in English, in case people are interested, or the bands themselves at times.

But yes. Eight years so far, and here’s a toast for another eight years!

Moment of Clarity

This day has been spent in bed most of the time. Why?

Because I’m sick. Would you believe it. On my first day off in forever, I’m sick. Of course, after a 12 hour shift, when I will finally have some time off, I’m sick. Sick as hell.

So what have I been doing? Absolutely nothing. I watched three movies in a row, which is a lot for me, I’ve been sleeping more than usual and I’ve been lying in my bed and stared at the neon lights in the “roof” of the bed.

So now I’m just going to continue listening to Beatrice Eli and continue to complain about my non-existing misery. Next up; “What’s Love Got To Do With It”. I love that movie.

What’s Love Got To Do With It

Posted in Uncategorized on October 2, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

So today was a bit of a killer. After spending all day and night at Nöjes last night, I had to get up at 2.30 to get to work, and when I got home I planned to sleep a few hours before starting my other jobs… which didn’t happen, because my third job acted up a lot.

They screwed up some deliveries, and despite explaining my situation, about my schedules and all, she had the nerve to tell me to “Work as hard as you can on Saturday!” No. Seriously, that won’t happen. I can’t write too much about it just now, I wanna settle it with the company first.

We settled it for the day, gladly, but I need to have a conversation with the manager on Monday about this. This job isn’t THAT well-paid that they can treat their employes just anyway they want it.

But, to make it a bit of a better day, I got my hands on these today;

Tickets for the Toto show in Stockholm next year! My sleepcycle got a little screwed up because of this, but so worth it. They were fantastic at Sweden Rock, so I look forward to seeing them again.

W.A.S.P @ Nöjesfabriken, Karlstad, Sweden 1/10 – 15

So, this was quite an eventful day actually! I went to town quite “early”, or well, at 13, to meet up with Linn and Michelle in order to attend a guitarclinic with W.A.S.P guitarist, Doug Blair.

So basically, we got there and it was… not a lot of people. Perhaps about 20, I thought it would be a bit more, but then again, Thursday 13…. perhaps not. Regardless, we all got into the little room and sat down and he came on pretty directly.

It was an interesting teach. To my surprise, it wasn’t too much technical guitarstuff, but more about his story and journey, and what to think about as an aspiring musician. He of course played us some stuff, it was things he had done for Orphaned Land, Lord of the Lost, some things he WANTED to do for Deathstars and some W.A.S.P material. The teach was over sooner than I wanted it to, what I mean to say here is that it was so fun and inspiring that it went so fast. Afterwards we got the opportunity to meet him and say hi.

12038344_10207710882560234_7327024668596081724_n 12096364_10207710882640236_4615563956299295367_n

Afterwards, we parted ways with Linn and went home to catch something to eat, watch a movie, get dressed for the night and eventually headed down to the arena for the show.

Since I’m a bit of a time optimist, we got on the road a tiny bit late, and it didn’t get better with us getting stuck behind a major truck who drove the wrong way, but according to my co-worker who worked at the venue that very night, we hadn’t missed a lot.

So, the first supportband of the night was the Norwegian thrashband Critical Solution. In all honesty, I wasn’t too fond of their music, it… I don’t know how to explain it. It didn’t really feel that special to me, but their image was cute. It was like merging a heavier band with the Murderdolls. It was odd, but a bit fun.

DSC04100

After this, we actually headed for the front row. I have seen Dynazty a couple of times before, however, I’ve never seen them with “Renatus” in their baggage, and since I didn’t really become a fan of Dynazty until that very album, I was really, REALLY excited for this one.

So, they walked on stage ar 20.30 sharp and opened the whole set with “Run Amok”, which.. startled me a little bit. I had assumed they’d start with “Cross The Line”, which actually became the second song on the set instead. Oh well then!

2015dynaztykarstadl1

For the third song of the night, my personal, not only Dynazty favorite, but favorite song all in all through times, “The Northern End” came. And seriously… this song… Like I’ve told you. It’s absolutely perfect. And it was just as perfect live. I love these guys. “Dawn of your Creation” was next on the list, followed by “Unholy Deterrent”.

2015dynaztykarlstad2

They wrapped the set up with “Raise Your Hands” and at last, “Starlight” before they left the stage. As you can see, it was a very “Renatus” dominated setlist, making every song but one from said album, but I’m not complaining at all. It was a really good show, I’m very pleased.

2015dynaztykarlstad3

After this, the wait for W.A.S.P began. Anna and Linn came to join us, but after some consideration, we decided to give up our front row spots for an old classmate and his girlfriend instead, since we weren’t really big enough fans of W.A.S.P to really find the pressure and drunk people worth it.

They were a bit late when they entered the stage, but once they did so, the arena… well, they gave them a welcome, perhaps not the warmest, but a welcome nonetheless. They opened the show with “On Your Knees”.

2015waspkarlstad1

They continued on with “Inside the Electric Circus”, “The Real Me” and “L.O.V.E Machine”.

And let me talk about something here for a moment. So, while I’m no superfan of W.A.S.P, I know their deal, and I know Blackie is a little bit of a diva nowadays, and I know he has strong opinion against people photographing. I can understand that it’s boring to play a show with a lot of phones straight up your face, and it is absolutely okay to prohibit photographing, if you announce it properly – by for instance, putting up signs.

Anyway, where I wanna go with this is the actions of the security guards. There was only one security guard who was even remotely active in looking into the crowd, sadly, he spent most of his time looking for cameras and making sure people weren’t photographing. Actually, it was more important for him to look for cameras, that he missed out on this one guy beating a girl. He missed out on this one guy pushing everyone for no reason, causing mayhem. He ignored this one guy who pulled down Linn a lot. He missed out on this one guy who repeatedly almost elbowed Anna in the face and so on. I can go on forever about people who were a little more than a concertgoer should have to deal with, and despite trying to get the attention, they were too busy looking for peoples cameras.

And when a request of the band becomes more important than paying customers safety, something is terribly wrong.

And perhaps Blackie should ask himself… why are they so attached to their phones? Why don’t they give things back? Perhaps the problem lies with him? Perhaps he isn’t delivering anymore. Perhaps he doesn’t give any energy to the crowd to feed off by, and if he can’t deliver why should the crowd?

Anyway. The set wasn’t very long in all honesty – They began around 21.45, and they were done a bit before 23. It was mixed materials – some old, some “Golgotha”, very mixed. I’m confused though – Doug said they were going to have a new set up on stage, but I can recall them having the same, or similar, set up just three years ago when I saw them the last time.

2015waspkarlstad2

I’m actually a little disappointed. Or a lot. In W.A.S.P that is, not Dynazty, not even Critical Solution. Blackie’s attitude just turns me off, and the way the security guards acted the entire evening kind of ruined the whole show. And the hype around this tour… too much. Anna was even confused afterwards by the fact they didn’t play “Chainsaw Charlie”, nor did they do “Blind in Texas”. I mean sure, you don’t have to do ALL your hits… but apparently they played the first two in Gothenburg and Malmö.

Odd. Very odd. Well, I’m not sure if I’ll be turning to W.A.S.P again after this, and in all honesty, I realized yesterday that I always went to see W.A.S.P because of the supportbands, so I guess it says it all.

After the show, we spent some time with my coworkers before heading home, catching like one hour of sleep before going to work. No rest for me!
