The Ark in Gothenburg

Posted in Concerts, Uncategorized on August 27, 2011 by Sara Hammerzmith

Myes. A little randomly, we decided to go see The Ark in Gothenburg.

It’s sad, that The Ark are quitting. The Ark is,without any kind of doubt, Swedens best live act as well as Swedens best inspirationsource. Listening to Ola Salo… he really touches your heart! And the show, Oh my god. When they go, a part of my heart will be missing. Love to all of you.

It was pretty much the same setlist as earlier, however, haha this is incredible. Before the show started I was thinking to myself “Hm. Last time I saw them in Gothenburg, they opened with ‘Absolutley No Decorum’, will they do it this time as well?” because in Karlstad earlier this year, they had begun with AND’s beginning and then “Hey Modern Days”. And would you know – They did open with “Absolutley No Decorum”! Else it was yes, pretty much the same.

I always get as happy as a little child when they do “Disease”, I love it, easily my favourite song. Overall it was a fine show, and it was incredibly fun seeing Eric Young from Crashdiet running around being their roadie. Now I’ve catched him twice at places he shouldn’t be at. What the fuck. Oh well. I salute you, The Ark. Can’t believe the end is near.

Hm. I have various versions of this moment. Both from Karlstad this year, and also from Svedala Sommarrock back in ’07. Gonna dig it up!

Also listening like hypnotized to the preview of Jay Smiths “Like A Prayer” on iTunes store. I can’t wait until I get the fucking record. It’s something of the best I have heard.. the arrangement! Oh my god.

Skogsröjet

Posted in Concerts, Uncategorized on August 25, 2011 by Sara Hammerzmith

Yes, almost an entire week since last time I wrote anything! Awesome!

Skogsröjet happened, and it was… interesting. No really, it was really good actually! Saw alotta good bands, left with new favourite bands in my pocket and lots of good memories. It was a bit hectic the first day as Malin for the first arrived an hour later than us and then, once she arrived, we had to wait another hour for the taxi. But it was fine. Once at the camping, it wasn’t as crowded as I thought it would be, and we had a nice spot with some of our best mates, Joiz, Jesper, Angie & Her friends!

Concertwise the day began with Sister, nice surprise! It WAS a bit weird – you know, when you are expecting Poison and Marilyn Manson comes out? Their appearence have changed so much! Still good though!

After Sister I headed for Dynazty, and they were well nice! They had alotta problems though, but I guess it solved later. I love their “This Is My Life” cover. I did however like, freakout during the show, beause I had left my cellphone in the camp… But it was still there as the concert was over! Thank god!

I was heading for Bullet, but in the middle of the show I happened to run into my friends Mike and Chris! Well nice to see them again, and I ended up spending the rest of the evening with them, which included a meet&greet with UDO! (Which he charges for…) Fun story about UDO, do you Lordi Paris People remember Mark? You know that tourmanager that pissed each and everyone of us off, that made us cry out for Rikk to come back? M thats right, him! He is or has always been maybe, the tourmanage for UDO! Kinda fun when Mike told me about him I didn’t recognize the behaviour, but the moment I saw him I was like WAIT A SECOND, THATS THE LORDI MARK!!!! Eugh. I didn’t interact at all with him though… so not sure if he is still an ass or not!

Chris, Mike & UDO!

We went to see UDO for a while and then rounded off he evening nicely! Got to meet Tom and Vinnie from Badmouth a bit more properly, well nice!

The Saturday began nicely with a two hour chat with Thomas on the phone while packing and later heading for Badmouths show, it must have been the most intense queueing I have ever done. We had to wrestle for our spots… Okay not really, but we had fun! The sun that burned us wasn’t as fun though… The concert began after a while and it was top notch I would say! They did very well and they had an awesome setlist.

This is when it started to get hectic. After Badmouth, our schedules was pretty much FILLED. Right after Badmouth, we headed for Electric Boys to watch them. I just love Conny Bloom and the way he puts on a show. Its like, Michael Monroe quality. Basically. Oh god.

I did get a little break here though, before Fatal Smile would start their show so I figured I’d eat a little and such… But I started “queueing” pretty early actually.

Back to Fatal Smile. They were really awesome, like really. Always put on a good show. And I always gets as happy when they do “Run for your life”. I fucking love it.

I wasn’t sure I’d make it to Hardcore Superstar in time, but I actually did! I left AFTER Fatal Smile, and I managed to get to HCSS before they even began! And what to say about HCSS? They totally rocked. I guess its also half their audience who makes the shows great. You remember I wrote about passion? Yeah? Well, HCSS audience must be the most passionate I have seen in a long time, I mean, REALLY. Most rockbands with the (new)sleaze audience, doesn’t have as passionate fans. If it is because they dont have the passion or they are just uptight I don’t know, but yeah. It’s special.

I actually managed to see the entire HCSS gig from the very first song to the very last…But I have also never runed as fast to Pretty Boy Floyds stage as that time. I managed to find Sofia and Malin whom had left HCSS stage WAY too early to start queueing.. Interesting! However… the show… Pretty Boy Floyd… this was the best show of the festival, no doubt. It’s something with the band, maybe its with my history with them, or if its just them.. It makes it extremly special at least. Kickass, well played, good setlist, just freaking AMAZING.

And ok. Before leaving the stage Stevie said he would be at the merchtent signing stuff… who do you think were there the first? OF COURSE IT WAS US! You know, I can’t catch the bus, or run beside a cantering horse. But when it’s about beating the others to the signing, I’m the fucking fastest. Or in this case, we were. We bought a copy each of the new album and got it signed by Steve. Awesome. After that, we hit WASP’s stage.

What to say about WASP…They were fine. I mean… Yeah. They were doing well, I still disapprove of them not playing “Animal” so I can’t give them a too higher grade.

Nevertheless, this was a pretty good festival. Well organized and all, but you should teach your security what an proffesional camera is. No,my little camera with a big screen with 0 settings is NOT a pro one, even if it is a bit bigger than regular cameras. Sorry, but I don’t like “the smaller the better”.

Over all, it was fine. Thanks!

Röcklöss Löw in Tampere

Posted in Concerts, Finland, Uncategorized on July 19, 2011 by Sara Hammerzmith

Alrighty folks! After catching my breathe a bit I do now intend to tell you all about it. It began early. Or maybe late? Already at 00.05 did the bus leave here from my hometown with the destination Arlanda. Sofia joined in later and then… the adventure began. We had our breakfast around 6, sandwich and coke for me and… sandwich and juice for her I think it was.

After that, we went to check in and through the securitycontrol. AND THE SECURITY OH MY GOD. The queue… It covered half fucking Arlanda!!!!! FUCK!!

Either way, we looked up our gate and then went to get maked up. And seriously, that was the worst… I mean… I have never been so stressed. We went into a toilet, each one, and turns out it was ONLY two toilets in this room, and… so many people decided to come when we were there! They dragged the doors and shit. Good thing is that there was a sign right outside saying there are more toilets on the other side. Puh. But fuck, the stress….

After that.. We sat down. It was approximatley around one hour left until boarding.. So we put some Reckless Love music on and then we just snapped. We took egopics, and we took weird pics and I don’t even….

Well. At this point, time moved on really fast and we had to hurry to our gate because it turns out we had gone to the wrong gate. Good thing we were in good time at least! The flight went really smooth and we landed in Helsinki a bit to early, and that combined with that the airport shuttlebus was late, we got into Helsinki 20 minutes earlier than we had expected too!

Unfortuneatley, all this travelling had made us sick. And considering we had a two hour train ride infront of us, and then another one, this wasn’t good. But since we had gotten these extra 20 minutes, and already had an hour and a half over until the train left, we figured we would go look for a pharmacy. And on our way to Kamppi to look for one, we found Argo! My phone had fucked up so I couldn’t reach him. Good thing he recognized us! And even better, we found a pharmacy next to the trainstation, so we didn’t need to go to Kamppi! Life was good.

After that. We hit McDonalds to pick up lunch to have on the train later, and then we went to our stop at the trainstation. It was like an hour until the train would leave, so we picked up ice cream and then just… sat down. And took a few pictures. Always.

Train came, we went on and just… rode on it. But haha oh my god this train ride….

First, there is a town in Finland with the most hilarious name ever. Träskända. It means Swampbutt kind of. Maybe it’s just fun in Swedish, but give me a break… TRÄSKÄNDA?!?!?! Hahahaha.

Second, we decided after a while to have lunch. At this point we realized how generous McDonalds is with Ketchup, they had given us… SO MUCH! Less fun was that, in the middle of lunch we were asked to switch train : ( and on the new train there were no seats… PARTY ON THE FLOOR!!!… Yeah. And to wrap up this hilariousness, when Sofia was having her burger, it got her lipstick on it. I couldn’t help it, I had to sing “Lipstick” by Jedward.

Yeah well… That pretty much covers it! After a while we did hit Tampere, and it had been raining seas during the trainride, but the moment we stepped out… the sun came! And the sun is here I’m going crazy from the heat… oh sorry, sidetracked! We went to Stockmann and then some musicstores before ACTUALLY going to Tammerfest. To leave to pick up some snacks to have. Then we were back again! To queue.

Reckless Love must be heavy metals Backstreet Boys. This is the one band that is ALL hot, all their songs are catchy and… there were only girls in the line. Not one boy. Except from Argo. Hahahahahahaha… Oh my god.

And yes… we queued. We fixed our hair again, it had gotten kinda messy. While doing that Sofia did all the Crashdiet faces… Oh my god..

Yeah. Of course it started to rain. HEAVILY. Good enough it lasted just an hour or such. There aren’t much to say about the queueing but one thing really upset me.

There was a girl there, she wasn’t from Finland. And there was no information in English what so ever. And apparently the sign said, no professional cameras. Fair enough. But this girl happened to have one. And they neglecgted her entrance, or they would the guard told her. And they couldn’t find a place to put it away for her, safe. How did this end? She had to leave. She couldn’t go to the concert. That makes me so fucking upset. Here she spent probably SHITLOADS of money, more than us, to get here, and this is how they treat her. Great hospitality! Same with toilets. They had no toilets outside, and we were not allowed to go inside just to go to the bathroom. This is, in all honesty, the first festival or concertarena at ALL that this has happened. In Paris they let us in the arena just to use the bathroom, same at Alice Cooper in 2008. Because they know we are no fucking lunatics, we just wanna use the bathroom. This festival, Tammerfest, has no fucking hospitality. Please remember that.

Okay. Then they let us in after a while. Still like, only girls there. Only girls in the front row. Hahaha. First band, in the metalgenre, I see this happen to. Haha, oh the lulz! Either way. Right on time they began.  And this concert was just… amazing. We weren’t many fans there, maybe what, 50-60? But it felt like we were a million. Probably because their fans are like Sabatons fans. Really die hard. Know everything, and do everything. I loved it, every moment of it. The band was really good on stage too. Best moment was “Hot”… Oh my god.. you could really hear the entire small crowd in the bridge..”You dont know you don’t  know, yeah you don’t, you don’t know whats hot if you have not seen this girl she will go all the way, I know, she is hot, she is hot like CALIFORNIA!”

God. Just amazing. But as you know, a more specific review will come on Hårdrock.com.

And I really fancied the girls who stripped in “Hot” . So much kudos to you!

After the gig we went straight to a cafeteria to take a cup of coffe. Hahaha, I hate how uncool it sounds. But hey, we needed the energy! After that we went back to the trainstation to take a train back to Helsinki where we had dinner and then hit the airport again. And there… we tried to sleep for a few hours. We got there around midnight. We “woke up” somewhat around 6 or something, all the noise, oh god the noise! And this was the same spot me and Anthalerero had been sleeping at after Stala&SO. It’s like my own spot on Helsinki Airport. How amazing isn’t that? We had breakfast, I noticed my earring was gone, Argo left for Estonia and then we were two..

And we snapped. Again. We went to our gates, and then we snapped. We played dead and played hookers and built moneytowers, planned igloo buildings and… when we was supposed to get out of the sofas we were lying on we were too lazy to sit up so we rolled off it instead… What the fuck… “What The Hell Did We Do?” fits extremely well here…

After a while we went in the security blablablabla, sat by our gate… when we heard it. Our plane was delayed. DELAYED. We had spent 15 hours already. And now we had to wait even longer. After an hour we could finally board our plane. There was a little hope, we could make it to our bus! Or not. Once boarded we learned that we had to wait for 40 minutes before we could take off. WHAT THE HELL.

We did eventually take off, mum got us new bustickets and then we waited at the busstop at Arlanda for an hour until we FINALLY got on the bus home. With the same driver who drove us to Arlanda a day ago.

And then.. finally home after some ridiculous 48 hours. But it was so worth it. It’s always worth it when you do it for your boys. And Reckless Love… if it’s ANY boys whom it’s worth for, Reckless Love is the guys. This was extremly worth it.. Can’t wait to do it again!

Reckless Love for your bands.

Posted in Concerts, Finland, Tankar och funderingar, Uncategorized on July 18, 2011 by Sara Hammerzmith

Oh my god. And I though Stala&SO in February was a killer. This one was fucking worse.

Bus from here to Arlanda, four and a half hour. At Arlanda, four hours, 35 minutes on plane, two hours to kill in Helsinki, two hours on train. 3 hours queueing in heavy rain, one hour of the most freeing concert I have ever been to. One hour of killing time in Tampere, two hours trains back 16(!!!) hours on Helsinki airport, two ours on plane, one hour at arlanda, four hours bus home.

No sleep, just waiting and travelling. I was dead when I got home. It was a killer.

But it’s what you do. Anyone who dares to call themself a big musicfan and has a favourite band like this, would do ANYTHING and a little more for them. This was a killer, as well as it really was nothing. I’d go through fire and ice for my band, and I guess you would too. Everything for my bands, they are the air I breathe, they keep me alive. This is the least I could do for them.

I love you eternally, all of you.

I would do it all for you, would do it all do it all for me?

ISC & Badmouth release party

Posted in Concerts, Uncategorized on July 2, 2011 by Sara Hammerzmith

Hello you all.

This will be a killer one. First I wanna announce one thing: MOLDOVA QUALIFIED THROUGH THE SEMIFINAL OF INTERNATIONAL SOUND CONTEST!, With other words, Alexandra Stan made it! Gosh, I am so happy I could die!

Lets move on.
Friday:
The day began pretty smoothly. Or not. I overslept, and almost forgot half my packing because I had some stableduteys to do, but it turned out as good as I had already packed what I thought I had forgotten. Dutey was fine, was counting the points of the dressagesheets (it’s national ponydressage at our stable, as we speak) so I was doing that for a class. But I realized how fucking long it was since I did it the last time, because I had completley forgotten how to calculate. We figured it out soon enough though. Thank god.

Anyway, after this it was time for me to hit Stockholm, to attend the releaseparty of Badmouths new record. For today’s honour, I actually had first class seat. And holy motherfucker, how those seat were big! They were like, huge! I had brought Sara’s jedhead as company, and even he fitted in the seat! But most of the time, he just sat in the window.

Anyway. Pretty instantly when I arrived we left for Harry B James and Badmouths releaseparty. Last wednesday, on the 29th, they had released their second album “Heavy Metal Parking Lot” (which I told you about, you can read a review here and order it here) and well yeah, this was a celebration party for it!

We arrived kinda late, around 10.30 pm, but it didn’t really matter since the band weren’t hitting the stage until 11, it was said. First people I meet when I get there is the one and onliest Chris and Mike from the band, hugging party was a fact! Sure, it was just like what, two weeks since I met them the last time, but still, it was fucking great to see them again.

We managed, I don’t even know how, to find a table in the pretty crowded club and chilled down a bit before the show, which started twenty minutes past and they opened the gig with the song “Radiator” (off the new album) and… Ok, first of all I was very so much amazed by the arena. It was like, THE smallest stage I had ever seen, the place looked alot like On The Rocks (Helsinki) but even On The Rocks has a bigger stage than this.. I was concerned for a while if the band would even fit.. But they did. And anyway, sidetracked. They began with “Radiator”, and the energy… I mean hell what the, if I thought they were great at Cinderella, that is nothing compared to now. The energy the bands presents on the stage, it always keeps amaze me.

It’s like Mike (I think) said to me afterwards; “If a band doesn’t think it’s fun, you can see right through them”. And he is pretty damn right about that. I’ve had my fair share for musicians who doesn’t have the fire anymore, but you can’t say that about Badmouth. Ratherly, does their fire EVER stop? The followed up “Radiator” with “Cocaine Girl” from their previous album, and then “Blue Ribbon Days” from the new one. I was glad to see there were quite a few Badmouth, eh, do I dare call them “die-hards”? Maybe it’s a bit too soon to call them die-hards, but ok, some good ol’ Badmouth fans that really knew their shit.

I think this is the same setlist as they had on Cinderella last week, because after “City Is Burning” they wrapped the concert up with my two favourite songs, “Tired” and “Heavy Metal Parking Lot”. One more thing I noticed throughout the gig, was the sound. This arena really seem to know their thing, because the sound was just… pure eargasm. I guess it also might, just might, eheh, have to do with the band too, I’ve never really seen sucha tight band before, at least not sucha “fresh” band as Badmouth actually is, don’t forget that.

On demand from the rather small crowd, they did one last song, “Bottoms Up” (fittingly enough, don’t you think? Considering the location!) before they left the stage, and LITERALLY left the audience wanting more. This was a rather good show, one of the better ones I’ve seen this year, it’s kind of in the league with Show by SO. and Michael Monroe. Extremly good, I can’t wait to see them again! And yes, the quality of the pictures sucks pretty hard, but my camera didn’t wanna work with me AT ALL… Sorry ’bout that!

We stayed around the place for a bit longer and got to have a long and lovely chat with Mike about anything and everything, and I also finally got to say Hello and talk to Tom for the very first time! Really nice to meet him, finally!
After a while we decided to leave a bit earlier than they closed, considering we had to get up early for SOMMARKRYSSET, but I must say, I had sucha great time there.

Thanks to Badmouth, Mike, Chris, Tom and my mum for making it pretty kickass. See you soon again!

Tschüss!

Dark Decadence

Posted in Concerts, Uncategorized on May 8, 2011 by Sara Hammerzmith

Oh my gaylord, it’s been a long while since it actually happened but oh well. Let me tell you about the weekend. It was really one of the best weekends ever, and in a real long time. Started out already on Friday when me and Sofia hit Stockholm pretty early to work it on the shoppingstreets. I’d like to say we did pretty well. We always do. Some new make up, patches, bags – you name it. Dinner was eaten at Tacobar. We love the place. ❤

During Saturday we got some shopping done as well, I really remember I got a cardigan to bring to the show just-in-case. Fun thing – when we walked down the street from Shock, we saw a guy we thought looked cool and we kept staring at him (we had just been whining over the fact there were NO rockers in town) and as we got closer to him we just kept staring… only to realize it was our dear friend Jesper! Now THAT was random.  We hit the hotel again after some last minute shopping to get ready for the gig and after that get going. Thanks to Angie, we found the trailway and also managed to get to Cirkus, where she and Joiz was kind enough to wait for us!  We hit the arena and hooked up with Mik and her boyfriend. Went inside to hook up with some of Sofias friends.. AND running into Jesper again! Nice nice.

Ok, so they were supposed to let us in right, so they opened the doors and we kinda experienced the Lordi 2006 all over (when they open the other doors!) Just to let us into… another hallway. We were like W.T.F. At this moment babygirl Sara joined us too. Talking about collecting a gang, huh? Either way. At first they said we were gonna sit down (yeah, they forced to actually SIT DOWN!) for 45 minutes, but already after what, like six minutes they opened the doors… TO LET US IN TO YET ANOTHER HALLWAY! I mean, what in the name of god?! Why didn’t they just let us in the second hallway right away?! We stood there for about 20 minutes or something before they ACTUALLY opened the doors to the arena…. So finally we got in! As usual, Martin Sweets side the whole gang of us.

I had noticed during the day that there were VERY few The 69 Eyes fans there. It’s a shame – they are like one of the greatest. And sadly (SORRY) they were the ones to start first today – pretty much only because Stockholm is Crashdiets town so they figured Crashdiet would get the longer set (and I wonder, was it really that much longer?!)

I must say though – for having sucha boring and dead audience that the 69 had, they still delivered ridiculously good. Jyrki was on fire flirting with the audience and the hyperrabbit Jussi we shouldn’t even talk about. I enjoyed it all so bad. I find it really sad they played sucha short set that they did, but I guess there is really nothing to do about it, is it? The setlist was however: Devils / Never Say Die / Perfect Skin / Sister Of Charity / Dead Girls Are Easy / Brandon Lee / Lost Boys.

So the Helsinki Vampires were chased off stage to get it ready for Crashdiet and… I mean, maybe it is me who have seen Crashdiet both way too much on this tour, and way too much in a short time – but the set is getting kinda old. Just as usual, they opened with “Down With The Dust” and the set was pretty much the same as it always has been, ‘cept from no “Save Her” (Why? Why on earth would you take THAT ONE away?!?!). What does, despite this, make the concert special and great – is the energy and the spirit the boys have. I can, in all honesty, say I’ve never ever seen them this fired up, this happy. I had never, until this day, seen Simon smile in real life, but today it seemed like he couldn’t stop. I don’t know whats the reason behind this – if it was because they were  home, because it’s the end of a decadent tour or all together, I don’t care. I was thrilled to see them so happy.  But I do wonder – was this really THAT much longer than the previous tour?
Setlist: Down With The Dust / So Alive / Riot In Everyone / Native Nature / Queen Obscene / Rebel / Beautiful Pain / Breakin The Chainz / Generation Wild.

Ok. Time to get ready for the nights headliner which was Hardcore Superstar – I’m gonna be honest with you, until this day I haven’t really cared much for them. I had seen them live a couple of times and I have one record, but they never stuck you know? Yeah – until this concert. Something about this concert just made them stuck. If it is because they are the greatest live band in Sweden, the material of Split Your Lip or just me getting used to them, I don’t know, but I can be proud to say that they are now stuck for me and I can’t wait to see them again.

So yeah… That pretty much covers the show. Afterwards we hooked up with the people again deciding what we would do for the night (= going back to the hotel) and saying good bye to all the awesome people. But glamourous as we are, me and Sofia took a cab. And in all honesty… I’m pretty happy we did! It was a bit creepy outside for GOD knows what reason. We pretty much crashed directly when we got back.

Sunday.. yeah well. WE DONT CELEBRATE SUNDAYS! Like Hardcore Superstar said. This was the last day, so we took a nice breakfast, went to the cinemas to see “Hop”. I adore the movie, it was awesome and the animals in it… So pretty.

One more thing… Swebus kinda sucks. We were waiting for the bus for like 30 minutes and we were kinda broken up about it… But we were still glad we would spend around what, three more hours together. But of course, OF COURSE, the manager says “Everyone going to Örebro in this bus please!”.. Meaning Sofia had to go with another bus. Were we pissed? Yeah you bet. Did it get worse? Oh yeah. Turns out my bus DID stop in Örebro ANYWAY!!!! WHAT THE!!! AHHHH WHYY WHYYY…. Ok Rage time is over.

Well yes… That pretty much covers the weekend. I can’t wait to ALMOST do it all over again at Cinderella.. Why is it so far away?

Helsinki Part 2

Posted in Concerts, Finland, Uncategorized on March 31, 2011 by Sara Hammerzmith

So well yeah, thats pretty much what we did. Sat and enjoyed ourselves and the night at On The Rocks as the place got more and more crowded. A couple of girls sat down on the back of mine and Argos couch and I thought I recognized one of the girls.. And of course! It was Jasmin, and I was so glad to see her again. I didn’t know how small / big On The Rocks was so I was kinda scared I’dn’t meet her laters, but well, yeah, it solved pretty good haha!

After a few more hours (or at least it felt like hours!) they let us or, ratherly, let us down (haha) in the club. You know… I’m not certain how well you know of me and Sofia and our almost-sitting-in-the-lap-of-Crashdiet experiences, but this took the price. There were NO FENCE at all before the stage, and Argo even put his stuff on the stage! And in between and before the acts we chilled out on stage. Fucking amazing. Jasmin came by to take a few pictures before she returned to her friends.

First out was psy’s band, Honey Hellraiser. They were one of the final reasons for me going in the first place and I was really looking forward to see them. And I can just say one thing: They did not let me down. They were just as I expected them to be you know, energetic, fun to watch and incredibly good. My favourite tune during the evening was “Hey Honey”, and so far I can even say it’s my fave song of them.

After a pretty short, but excellent set, the Honeys left the stage to let their fellow mates in Santa Cruz take over. I think it was during this I got to say hello to Ana2009 from MB, it was real nice to see some new faces from Monsterboard! Either way, you know. When I saw Santa Cruz (and made sure it was them, haha!) I was kinda certain I’d enjoy them. After being in this “business” for so long and seeing and hearing so much, you kinda learn how to recognize a band you’d like. And the moment I saw them coming in, I kinda knew what kinda of music they’d play and that I’d enjoy them.

And I did. They were awesome. I can honestly say I didn’t see this one coming from Finland… It might just be me – and also apart from SO, Honeys and Reckless Love – I always see Finland having more heavy stuff than glam and sleaze stuff. So it was a real nice surprise. More finnish music to the people! Santa Cruz left the stage after their refreshing set and by this time, the place have started to get pretty crowded.

This was kinda… surreal you know. SO. hit the stage pretty much right on the time I predicted and even if this wasn’t the first time I’d see him unmasked, it still felt surreal you know? Like this is fucking it. See, there he is! Either way, they hit it off with my favourite song, “Shout!”. I was kinda glad they played it – I usually have you know, no luck with those things. They followed it up with my second favourite “One Nite Stand” and the good old “Got To Believe”.

During “She” I took a look around the audience… SO. doesn’t have a specific audience you know? There were rockers, there were punks, there were hippies, pop-people or just “ordinary” people. And it was one girl that really caught my attention and now she is stuck in my brain everytime I hear “She”. Like she is “She”. And she also defines SO. for me by now. No, sorry, I have no idea who she is.

Their Eurovision song, “Pamela” who was also next song to be executed, was the one who raised the roof. I expected it to be “One Nite Stand” or similar, but no, it was Pamela. The entire floor was jumping and singing. I was glad to see this kind of excitement you know, for SO.

Another thing that surprised me badly was what a good showband SO. is. I mean, I know what kind of person Sampsa is, but I never expected this band to be so… extremly good you know. I always figured they’d be some winging thing from Lordi, less good than Lordi, but instead they ended up clearing the field with Lordi you know. They literally kicked Lordis ass. If you ask me. At least this gig. For me. Compared to Babez.

“Women”, “Bye Bye”, “Back On The Road”, “Wont Let You Down Again”. The songs passed by. The gig passed by too fast too, I guess I enjoyed myself and the band and the feeling in there a bit too much to even notice. The band perfection on stage, the executioning, the energy. It’s undescribable. They are a ridiculously fun band to watch, I guess Sampsa was right when he said two years ago that SO. is the freakiest band from Finland.

And what is even more undescribable? Sampsa and SO. doing my favourite Whitesnake song. Not like it’s gonna happen. Or Wait? Yeah. “Fool For You Loving” was the second last song to the set, and hearing Sampsas tender and lovely voice doing it really gave me chills and made me enjoy the song even more. I demand them to record and release the cover of it.

Last song for the evening arrived, “Everything For Money” and they invited the Honeys and Cruzers to join them on stage, however the Cruzers had left somewhere… I don’t mind though. The combo of Hellraiser and SO. is well and enough for me.

You know… This was a real intersting gig you know. This is the first gig in a real long time that I have really enjoyed every single minute off, even during the supportbands. I wanna thank all the three bands but a bit extra for SO. and Honey Hellraiser for making the evening awesome.

After the show Antha and I got and picked up some merch (I believe Argo did this before the show) and we just… hang around. Talked abit with Saara in the merch, a bit with Psy and other people around. We stuck around until they closed at 4 and aimed for Mc Donalds which was fucking crowded at this point… Well, I don’t blame them really. Sooner or later we did eventually get our food and sat down for a while before it was time for Argo to hit his cruise and me and Antha to return to the airport. We took a nap before we found our destinations and said good bye for this time.

It might be a bit early to say, but so far, this is the funniest and most memorable trip I’ve done this year, and I’m certain it will stay that way. I enjoyed every moment of it, even if it was short and spontaneous. I want to thank Argo, Antha and Jasmin for making it kickass, and also SO. & The Honeys + Saara for making it over the top. Thanks guys. I will never forget it.

Lordi, Nosturi, Helsinki 18/9

Posted in Concerts, Uncategorized on September 30, 2010 by Sara Hammerzmith

Lordi gained their massive success in 2006, when they entered AND won the Eurovision song Contest with 292 points and the song “Hard Rock Hallelujah”, please, don’t tell me you never heard of them. It’s been four years since this, and two albums later they are here with “Babez For Breakfast”, and Paula and I went to the releasegig at Nosturi to catch the monstars live.

WARNING! This entry may contain language only understandable to the people within the scarctic circle, with other words, the Lordi language. You’ve been warned.

So, we got to the arena half an hour or so before they opened and ended up kinda way back in the queue. However, the people surrounding us must have thought we were nuts. Jumping around sining Pippi Longstockings and stuff… connected to Amen… Haha, no, I won’t tell : ) Anyways, what DO sucks, is that it started to rain! Yes! I know, I’m was in Finland, at Nosturi, I should’ve been happy, and I was, but it was cold already as it was.. We were let in anyway, went to the merch, picked up some merch and went in. First we felt fucked. It was CROWDED. Sort of. But then we saw it. The holy platform. Like Pamela Anderson from Baywatch we walked in Slow Motion over to the platform, falling, tackling with finnish people… and then we got there. Exhausted as we were, we stood there, as true soldiers, as Swedish Pagans.

However, no supportband was signed up for this, so it was a waiting of TWO HOURS until they started. It was fine though, usually I’d have been really pissed off, but considering that it 1, was Lordi, and 2, I had the very best Paula with me, it was just fine! We both got a little cranky around 10 when we just wanted them to start and they kept… not coming. “They smashed the clocks and the time did freeze. Dragged out the night to keep us on our knees”.

10.10. They came. On stage. Kita, OX, Amen, Awa. During the sound of horror of SCG V they came. Once the baby ate its mother, Kita hit the drums and with smoking guns they hit it off with “Babez For Breakfast”. It is something with Lordi, that just makes them disgustingly awesome, you know? It is something with the song – the band, the arena, the fans, something, that just made it so disgustingly awesome. It felt great to see that it was the hardcores that were here – the ones who knew it all.

They continued on with “They Only Come Out At Night”, and followed it up with another single of their, “Bite It Like A Bulldog”. Or ratherly, OX’s song. And you know, during the Deadache tour I had to walk out at this point to leave my camera right, so I totally missed it when the creep came out with OX in a chain… but finally I got to see it… wow. Haha, it was real creepy actually, I gotta say.

They are ripping off both “Whos Your Daddy” (where me and Paula went nuuutz!) and “Blood Red Sandman” before another Babez song came, the very so great “Rock Police”. It was one of the songs I had a hard time for in the beginning, but it has really grown on me know. I just love it. And Lordi is the elite of rock n rolls finest… And after this? Lets declare once and for all that this indeed is heavy metal. Yeah, you got it. And this song live? It’s just pure awesomeness, as Paula would say!

After getting a little heavy the very beautiful, and can I say now on sexy Lady Awa gets her 15 minutes in the spotlight. Of course it is with her “Rebirth of The Countess” and there is nothing I love more than to see this hot little vampire kill the bastards. Kill… KILL… KILL!

While killing those bastards she also throws us into the Discoevil, and it got some real toxic tones! I just love it, and I really hope they keep it (and the other Babez songs!) to the REAL tour (NO, this was NOT the tour-start)

SCG3 is hitting off and once again we get threatened to what will happen if we choose to follow the wrong path. Lordi gets out with his fox on his head to declare that despite what people say about Lordi being heavy metal or not, they are still brining it back. Or, “Brining Back The Balls”. Rather.

“Monster Monster”, “It Snows In Hell” ( I really thought they’d be playing “Call Off The Wedding”..) “Loud & Loaded” (also Babez song!) when it was time for the also now very… hot (I’ll keep short on the s e x word!) Amen gets his spotlight. Yes – Kita had his spotligt, and so did I OX, I just can’t remember specifically when during the concert they had it… But Kita just did what he always did. Chopping that damn chinese heads off! Way cool. Keep it up darling.

And just as on Deadache Amen introduced us to the very awesomest “Dr Sin Is In” Oh how I could pay just to see OX hit that corpse just one more time! Ending the set for this time with “Would you Love A Monsterman?” they leave us wanting more. As always.

But come on, it’s only Mötley Crüe who leaves without encores, so of course Lordi comes back. Mister says something in finnish, which apparently was either good or funny, because all the soumi talking people in the place loved whatever he was saying. So we did too. We just expect that it was something good he said. And when he introduced the next song, I thought I was gonna faint.

I thought; “Alrite. Either they do ‘Nonstop Nite’ or they just do the awesome twosome and leaves…” when I heard the four words. The four words, that togheter becomes a sentence of one of the best Lordi songs ever made. The words where hate, at, first, sight. Put them togheter and you get “Hate At First Sight”. Do you believe it? “Hate at First Sight”. Maybe the best B-track ever made by them, “Hate At First Sight”, LIVE. LIVE.I couldn’t believe it. I never thought we’d ever hear a B-Track live on stage, even if we all really wished for it. And the Lord heard our wishes.

They ended the entire concert with the awesome twosome – “Devil is a Loser” and “Hard Rock Hallelujah” with a lot of pyros, kinda interesting you know, on the Deadache tour, or, the place where *I* saw them on the Deadache tour, they didn’t have any pyros at all so it was kinda fun to see them have all these pyros in what I think is a pretty small arena. Sure, Nosturi is bigger than Klubben but you get me.

It’s hard to say anything bad about Lordi. This gig was ace, Lordi is always ace. I do miss songs like “Missing Miss Charlene” and “Deadache” (Especially “Deadache”) since it is my faves, but it’s ok. What did surprice me most is the fact that they barely played any stuff off the new album. I thought they were gonna play it all from scratch and to the end, but apparently not. Apart from that, I have nothing to complain about. It was just pure awesomeness.
It hurts like hell – m oh well, I know I’ll come back again”.

9/10
Best: Hate At First Sight!
Lowest: The lack of Babez material

Stockholm Rock Out Part 2 Del 2

Posted in Concerts, Uncategorized on September 17, 2010 by Sara Hammerzmith

Fortsätter med ”Toast Of The Town” och ” Rock n Roll Outlaw”.

Jublet fann dock inga gränser när de spelade den väldigt omtyckta “I Wanna Be With You”. Men det är aningen komiskt att först gör Glam så, sen kommer Steve… hehe, they can’t get enough of me!

Setet fortsätter med den för Stockholm Rock Out väldigt passande låten “48 Hours” (We got 48 hours, 48 hours to rock, to rock, 48 hours, 48 hours to rock… och ni vet, Rock Out var ju två dagar…) Min personliga favorit “Your Mama Wont Know”. Real worthy.

Alltså, jag tycker det var bra. Riktigt bra show, riktigt bra.

6/10
Bäst: Your Mama Wont Know

Och; It’s good to see someone else than Lordi talking to the dead…

Tack. I salute you, Chris Lemon.

Stockholm Rock Out, Part.2 Del 1

Detta var historiskt, magiskt, you tell me!

Very Kinky.

Welcome to the show!

Bara MIG.

Men nej! You rocket through my heart yeah you kill me…

Min djupt älskade Teeny fick sina 5 minuter i rampljuset innan de kör “Hard To Be A Rock n Roller”, och så inkörd som jag är så vet jag att detta betyder slutet. SLUTET!

9/10
