A CD that’s been going warm the last days now are Dream Evil‘s album “Dragonslayer” from 2002, so I figured I’d give you a heads up about the album.

Most of you who read my blog, or at least have done so for a long time, knows how picky I can be when it comes to metal, or you know, things that are heavier than Lordi. There are only two bands I “dare” listen to, or perhaps, buy the records for, and that’s HammerFall and Sabaton.

However, on the later years I’ve gotten more and more into powermetal. I’m still not sure if I’m.. ‘ready’ for heavier stuff, but yes. Anyway. I discovered Dream Evil when they were supporting HammerFall on a gig at Gröna Lund back in 2007, and a few years (!) later I decided to get an album by them, alongside a Hardcore Superstar and Jay Smith CD. Said and done.

During the gig I had gotten really fond of “The Chosen Ones” and thus chased down the CD with that song on it. At the first few listens it didn’t stick, and I guess this is why I find myself here now, a few years later, blowing the dust off it and cranking it.

Like I said earlier, I’m always a bit suspicious when it comes to things heavier than Lordi, if I’ll really like and things like that, and I guess this is why I’ve always been a bit unsure about Dream Evil, despite HAVING seen them live a couple of times and KNOWING they are powermetal.

But I really like this. I noticed myself that I must have listened a lot to the CD before, because I recognized the words to “In Flames You Burn”, amongst other things. This album is a pretty darn good album. The material is solid and polished, and there are enough soldiers and dragons and quests to keep me interesting throughout the CD. It’s pretty similar to HammerFall in a way, or at least it is for me with an “untrained” ear.

As I’ve mentioned before, I got this one on the same time as I got the Dynazty CD, meaning, reaaaally early compared to it’s releasedate. But just as with Dynazty, we’d been asked to wait a little before reviewing, until it was a bit closer to the release date.

When I got the files, neither of the songs had any of their tracknames written on them, nor did they include a tracklist with the press-release, so I’ve spent most of this time listening to the songs without actually knowing what they are called. I still don’t know what they are called when writing this, so yeah. Sorry.

Something I can tell you though, is that I love it. I really, truly, mean it. H.E.A.T is the only band that continuely keeps giving me exactly what I want in a band. If you listen to this CD, more to be precise, track 3, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 12, you’ll get a full understand exactly what kind of music I like. Not “something like that”. No.

Exactly like this. Powerful choruses, flooding keyboards, relatable and inspiring lyrics, guitarsolos and Grönwall… that voice. Seriously I’m just sitting here like damn damn damn damn (a la Angelea Preston). I love all about it. The beat in Track 2, the amazing chorus in Track 3, the lyrics of Track 5, the whole number 6 (I swear to God though, I’ve heard this chorus or something similar somewhere else before, and I’m on to you about where), especially the little detail after the chorus… God I love this.

Track 8, was a surprise. I can be quick to judge songs. On based on the intro I was unsure if I’d like the song, but then the verse started…. powerful. I just. I, what, what am I even to say? I don’t even. The chorus. Erik, what a man, again. Track 9… all albums need a ballad, be it a ballad or a powerballad, your choice, whatever I know, this one is perfect. It touched me, it moved something in me. Track 10, all about it. The chorus, the lyrics, the composition, the performance.

Track 12… Possibly my favorite song on the album. This song. This damn fucking song. I can tell you. This song inspires me. I don’t know how to put it better, because it feels like inspired might give you the wrong idea. This song makes me want summer to come quickly. It makes me forget the fact that I’m going to most of the festivals alone, I don’t care of things don’t work out. I don’t care, it let’s go of my worries, becasue, whats the chance that, in 20 years or so, are laughing at tomorrow?

There are three songs that I feel fades a bit compared to the others, Track 1, 7 and 11. They aren’t bad, however, their successor or preceedor just outshone them, I’d say. Damn I love this album.

I’m not sure what more I can add to this. Thank you, truly, H.E.A.T, for once again lighting up our every day life with your fantastic and mindblowing music. Thank you, for album after album giving us the absolute best there is of melodic rock. Thanks H.E.A.T for constantly showing me, us, that you are the best band out there today, when it comes to melodic rock.

Thank you. Truly. This album will be played, and played, and played over and over again here at home until everybody, even the metalheads amongst my friends, loves it.

And they will.

Today was the release of Steel Panther’s new record “All You Can Eat”. I’ve really longed for this one to come out, because as you know, Steel Panther in my heart forever. So I was really thrilled (unlike Dynazty, haha haha) when my boss got it in and passed it on.

You may remember that my friends and I set up a pre-listening party in honor of the record in order to listen to it and we had a bit of a discussion about it that I found interesting.

At first listen, I must confess I wasn’t very impressed. It resembled “Balls Out” a lot, which is my least favorite Steel Panther album as of now, so I was a bit quick to judge. But after listening to it a couple of times, to really feel it and hear what they actually sing, the record has grown. A whole lot.

Instead of having like, three songs I like, I now dare to say that I enjoy most of them. The lyrics are hilarious, “She’s on the Rag”, I mean what. The worst part is, I ain’t even surprised they got a song like that. If it was any band to do it, it should be them. The song has come to be one of my favorites, alongside “Burden”.

I have this weird thing where I like certain parts of songs. I’m not overly crazy about “Glory Hole”, but there is a segment in it that makes it worth listening to the whole song. The segment starts at 2:45 in the song. God. I don’t know why, But I just love it.

But, that wasn’t even what we discussed. We discussed this that neither one of us are absolutley CRAZY about a Steel Panther album. I looked through the songlists of “Feel The Steel” and “Balls Out” as I was writing my review, and I noticed that I’ve kind gone into Lordi mode – that sure, I don’t particularly like that song, but I’ve gotten so used to it by now that it’s good.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I do love their music. But it’s more that I REALLY LOVE like 3/4 of their songs, and really DON’T like the rest. Or something like that.

We came to the conclusion when we discussed, that a big part of why we love this band is because of their show and their stagepersonas. That it’s absolutely plausible that we wouldn’t be as into this band as we are, if it wasn’t for their stageshow. And when you think about it, isn’t it a little… scary. How important a good stage show can be, in order to get or keep fans.

I never really thought about it that much before. Steel Panther and Lordi are both very theatrical bands, so they’ve always put on quite a show and when seeing bands with less theatrics I never thought about it too much. Hm. Interesting.

Well. The album is indeed getting better after each listening, so if you don’t like it on the first try, give it another one or two. It’ll grow on you.

Rockefeller, Oslo, 2012

Dynazty’s new record “Renatus” came out the other day, and I was lucky enough to receive it for reviewing. I got it together with the new H.E.A.T CD, which I requested, and I wasn’t all too excited when Dynazty was thrown in, mostly because at times, I get a little uncomfortable going outside my comfort zone. I’ve been moderately interested in Dynazty over the years, so they aren’t exactly in my “comfortzone”, but you know. It’s always good to go out of your comfort zone, so I didn’t complain.

We were requested to wait with the review until close to the release date, so I simply let it be for a while. I was also in the middle of Frozen preparations when I got it (yes, that early!). But you know, time passed and I finally sat down, or, laid down to listen to it and all.

At first, I choked on my tea. See, I expected Dynazty to be the band they were when they were in Melodifestivalen, with “Land of Broken Dreams”, but it wasn’t. I guess most of you have heard “Renatus” by now, and you know as well as I that the album is nothing like the old Dynazty we know.

And surprisingly, for me, I liked it. No.

I didn’t like it.

I loved it.

I loved every single bit of it. I’m normally not a fan of bands changing their sound too much, I think you all remember how shocked I was when I came across Lordi’s new last year. But this… damn. Every second of every song blew me away.  And I think a big part of that is because of keyboards. I’m weak as fuck for keyboards in songs, be it rock, metal or schlager. I just think they add that little extra thing. That little extra sparkle. And to add on to that, these are some wickedly talented musicians and songwriters. I can’t tell you enough how much I love this.

And since I said I love keyboards, I guess all of you who’ve heard “Renatus” can guess what song is my favorite. That’s Right. “The Northern End”. I love the verses. I love when it builds up to the choruses, you know, “you are now in the company of brothers….”, and I love how it all just loses it after the guitarsolo. It’s pure perfection. In my ears.

I also love the verses in “Run Amok”. You know, when the keys are coming in and the verse gets… playful. I don’t know how to describe it better, but it’s at 0:35 in the first verse. When the keys come in. Right there. Perfection.

“Salvation”. I…. I don’t even have words. I remember I looked at the length of the song and got worried, generally speaking, I tend to not be a too big of a fan of long songs. But when hearing this, I can’t understand it’s 7 minutes. It feels a lot less. And regardless of length, it’s still…. fantastic.

I do, from the bottom of my heart, recommend everyone to buy this album, if you are a metal fan. I rarely do this, especially not on my blog. But I do. I recommend you all to get up, and go get yourself a copy of “Renatus” by Dynazty. Here’s a Spotify link if you want to hear it on beforehand. It’s worth listening to.

And I can tell you one thing.

I’m never, EVER, EVER again going to be “not too excited” about a record just because it’s out of my comfortzone. Ever. Dynazty proved me wrong so hard I’m gonna curl up in a corner and cry a little. And listen to their music some more.

Skogsröjet 2011

Hello, hello, hello.

Last Friday must have been one of the best days ever. First off, I started my day with some good news regarding a certain event, and got some sweet pressmaterial while having a delicious breakfast after a fantastic morning shower. Afterwards, my mum and I went shopping for the weekend, stuff like kneepads and such. Boda Borg COULD be considered an extremesport, I guess.

Later one I headed downtown to meet up with Emelie and Michelle for some “fancy” lunch (I guess?) at Subway before we hit the premiere of Wreck-it Ralph. Despite me being a bit unsure about the movie at first, I liked it. A lot. I liked it very much, and I just wanted to punch Ralph when he wrecked Vanellope’s go-cart. And I gotta use Felix’s pickup line on someone at some time. Seriously. At our way home from the movies I also received some pretty fantastic news. Not gonna share’em here though.

After dropping Emelie off later we went home, ordered pizza and got to our “Awca-ritual”. Yes, that’s right. The first listen to “To Beast or Not To Beast”, Lordi’s new album for the people who doesn’t know. We even set the mood with a lot of candles, a sacrificial hamster and pizza. Everything was just perfect.

And so was the album. Or perfect may be a bit strong… but it was good. Really good. It’s like The Arockalypse and Deadache had a child, and this is it. I can’t really pick a favorite song, but it’s somewhere between “Candy for the Cannibal”, “Something Wicked This Way Comes”, “Schizo Doll” and “Horrifiction”. They are all kinda Deadache-ish, perhaps with a little touch of Babez, but mainly Deadache. I’m still shocked though from hearing Mr Lordi curse through an entire chorus. That was unexpected, especially as we can recall him saying at one point he wouldn’t do it, because it’s the easy way out.

But yes, like I said, it’s hard as hell to choose ONE favorite, it’s easier to say that the songs I liked the least on the album is like, “Happy New Fear”, “The Riff” and “I’m The Best“, although, I wouldn’t say they are bad or anything. The mixing is a lot better on this album than it was on Babez, and the overall composing is just perfect. The only thing I miss, is Kita’s backingvocals. It feels a bit empty without his sweet and soft voice screaming in the background, but it also kinda adds to it that the backings are all dark.

But I liked it. No, loved it. I loved it. This is THE era of Lordi, and I’m glad I’ll be seeing as many gigs as I am with them this era.

I even love the “Dinner is Served!” in the beginning of “We’re Not Bad For The Kids (We’re Worse)“. And of course the band would be screaming, they were kept waiting three years for dinner. Damn it, Wagener! They may be monsters, but they get hungry too.

But okay. Almost 4 am in the morning. Bed is calling. My body’s aching from Boda Borg, but I figured I’ll tell you more about that tomorrow.

Reckless Love är ett band ifrån Finland som bildades redan i 2001, under namnet Reckless Life. Redan 2005 vann de en musiktävling i sin hemstad som hjälper till att främja artister och ge dem internationell exponering, men de är nog mest kända för att deras sångare Olli Herman har ett förflutet som sångare i Crashdïet.

Jag hade ju själv lyssnat lite på dem på YouTube innan jag bestämde mig för att skicka efter skivan. Min första spontana reaktion när jag såg “Romance” videon var “vad i helvete blir det?” för det kan ha varit något av det mest bisarra jag sett. Men fy så beroendeframkallande! Skickade även denna videon till Sofia för att testa på hur effekten skulle ta på henne, och även hon blev helt beroende. Lite smått började man smyga på “Beautiful Bomb” och “One More Time”. Vi var hooked. Skivan beställd.

Frågan är, hur bra är skivan EGENTLIGEN? Jämfört med de här tre låtarna.

Alltså, den håller måttet. Absolut. Visst – inget snack om saken, de här tre låtarna tillsammans med den lite mystiska “Back To Paradise” är enligt min mening de bästa på hela skivan, men man blir liksom aldrig “Åh nej” när man hör en annan låt, som det kan bli på vissa skivor ibland. Hela skivan låter som om den kommer ifrån 1984, direkt ifrån Whiskey A Go Go, och det är då det är som allra bäst.

Det som å andra sidan kan vara lite synd är väl att influenserna hörs äckligt tydligt. Mestadels när man satt och lyssnade tänkte man “Jaha, det här är typ “Crazy Nights” med KISS eller “Pour Some Sugar On Me” med Def Leppard”.  Det gör egentligen ingenting personligen för mig, att det är lite likt, det är bara objektivt väldigt synd eftersom det skriker lite smått “plagiatvarning”. Men vi har väl alla våra influenser.

En konklusion blir att den här skivan är väldigt värd att köpa och ha, och denna kanske till och med passar i skivstället till dem som inte normalt sett lyssar så mycket på hårdrock, eftersom den är så snäll.

En riktigt värdig debut, trots “plagiatvarningarna”. Eller som en person på YouTube sa – “It’s like a PG version of Steel Panther”

Jag hörde Badmouth första gången på Pretty Boy Floyds konsert, var de var förband. Jag hade också turen att få träffa dem, och se vilka trevliga personer det är! De sponsrade mig med en skiva, och det minsta jag kan göra för dem är att recensera den!

Badmouth, alltså, vid första synen av deras skiva och på bandet i sig, så ser dem inte ut att spela den musik de gör. Jag är väldigt selektiv av mig, och brukar oftast bara tilltalas av band med långt hår och smink och tighta kläder, men Okej, De flesta i Badmouth har långt hår men… Man får intrycket av att det ska vara något sånt där som ligger mitt emellan hårdrock och sleazerock med blandning av metal, och vara ett sådant band som utger sig för att experimentera men bara misslyckas totalt ni vet? FÖRLÅT, Badmouth, FÖRLÅT. (Jag dissar bara designen på ert omslag, inte er!!)

DOCK, det viktigaste i det hela, är, att sådan är inte musiken! NEJ! Tvärtom, musiken är verkligen… perfekt! Den är liksom, mer sleaze än någon av de andra tre kategorierna. Skivan i sig har ett bra tempo, och sången är helt underbar. Musikerna i bandet är verkligen duktiga, både som musiker och låtskrivare. Men det är klart – Albumet är ju inte likadant rakt igenom! De har de lite mysigare låtarna som “Last Train” och hårdare som “El Diablo” och “Hell Tonight” till ballader som “Rivethead”.

Det jag gillar mest med dem är nog att de är så lika Slaughter i musiken. När jag hör “SuperSassyBaby” börjar jag direkt tänka på “Dance For Me Baby”. Det är inte plagiatvarning alltså, utan de är bara så himla lika i stämning och text!

Jag måste också ge dem extra credit för deras härliga låttitlar: “… And Take Your Toothbrush With You” Awesome. Tummen upp!

Alltså, för att vara ett debutalbum så är de riktigt bra! Det är inte många band eller artister som får till sådana debuter, om man inte heter Lady Gaga och har hjälp av hitmakers, men då har man ju inte gjort den själv.  Så, en STOR guldstjärna till Badmouth!

Okej. Det finns en kortare recension för den som inte orkar läsa en lång på www.nyaskivor.se Om ni söker på Lady GaGa eller Sara Köhler eller något.

Datumet är 25:e November, dagen är en Onsdag och albumet heter The Fame Monster. Det var lite mer än ett år sen Lady Gagas genombrottsskiva “The Fame” kom ut, och även den är inkluderad i denna. Det finns tre olika utgåvor; Limited Edition (den med svart hår), Deluxe Edition (Den med blont hår) och jag vet ärligt talat inte skillnaden mellan dessa två. Och den tredje är en stor box med både det ena och det andra i, bland annat en hårlock ifrån mistressen själv. Dock har jag inte riktigt de pengar som behövs att lägga på en sådan, så jag fick “nöja mig” med  limited edition. Och ska jag vara ärlig? Det var den jag ville ha.

Ingen har väl vid det här laget missat “Bad Romance” med Lady Gaga, som jag ANTAR har gåt ganska varm i radion, och de som gillar Lady G har väl också hört sig mätta på både “Speechless” och “Alejandro” vid det här laget också. Eftersom vi alla redan känner till “The Fame” ganska bra så tänker jag inte recensera den, utan bara de åtta nya låtarna.

Jag tänkte att jag kör en Jonathan, och tar dem låt för låt.

Bad Romance
Bad Romance är den typiske “Just Dance”. Ni vet, grov hitvarning, men samtidigt är den riktigt bra? Jag gillar det desperata i den, liksom, hur hon verkligen BER till killen. Jag älskar det hysteriska i “Ra Ra Raaaah”. Det låter förmodligen ganska självklart och överdrivet att jag säger att det är en av de bättre låtarna på cdn, men det är den verkligen! RedOne har ju skrivit den, kan det ha något med saken att göra?

Alejandro
Hm. Vad ska man säga om Alejandro? Jag gillar stämningen och melodin i låten, jag gillar hur den känns lite “mexicansk” om ni förstår vad jag menar. Den känns lite episk. Jag älskar det lilla partiet “Don’t wanna kiss, don’t wanna touch, just smoke my cigarettes and hush“. Älskar bryggan in mot refrängen.

Monster
Detta är verkligen en av mina stora favoriter på skivan. Refrängen skulle kunna vara bättre, men bryggan till refrängen är… WOW! “I asked my girlfriend if she’s seen you around before, she mumbled something while we got down on the floor baby ‘we might have fucked not really sure don’t quite recall. But something tells me that I’ve seen him yeah before’ ” Och verserna i sig är helt… Underbara de med!… Men är det bara jag och Sara som tycker att det är väldigt mycket Jacob Black / Bella Swan över låten? “Oh boy, now get your PAWS right off of me!”

Speechless
Tänk er Brown Eyes. Tänk något 10 gånger bättre än Brown Eyes. Inledningen på låten får mig att tro dock att låten kommer att vara askass. Men när man väl når refrängen inser man vilken mysig låt det är. Och den är så tragisk – MEN. Hon får sin revansch. “Will YOU ever speak again?”… Härligt Gaga!

Dance In The Dark
Min stora favorit på skivan. Jag fullkomligt ÄLSKAR refrängen! Den är sådär typisk som “Jimmy Dean” med Troll och “Evelyn” med Lili & Susie, den har en liten höjning i den allra desperataste delen (“Cause when he’s looking she falls apart“) hela låten är catchy as hell, och… NEJ. Det finns inte ord för hur bra den här låten är!

Telephone
En psychadelisk låt i psychadelisk anda.. Nej. Men den är verkligen.. PSYCHO! På det där bra sättet som bara Gaga lyckas med. Den beskriver verkligen känslan av att vara på konsert, även om det inte riktigt är det den handlar om. På denna låt gästsjunger förövrigt Beyonce, och det känns som att dem är nära vänner! Och med tanke på Video Phone kanske de i alla fall BÖRJAR bli det…? Lagom kaxig, lagom konstigt, lagom popig, lagom galen… Perfekt!

So Happy I Could Die
Detta är väl den av Lady G’s låtar på den nya skivan jag har lite svårt för. Jag tycker den är lite småtråkig. Den går i “Starstruck”s anda, och den var ju jättebra, men den här är inte RIKTIGT lika bra. Den är inte dålig, absolut inte, men… Den är verkligen inte min favorit. Den har en lite småjobbig refräng faktiskt. Men mysiga verser. Fast texten kan ju ifrågasättas då.

Teeth
Alltså, jag kunde inte sluta le när jag hörde den här låten! I den hör låten HÖR MAN vilken Twilight Feber Lady G har! Och dessutom, låten är sådär… arabisk?! som Dingos öppningslåt på “Kerjäläisten Valtakunta” är. Den är… så speciell på det sättet. Och Mistressens röst är så… annorlunda!

Så. Vad kan man konstatera? JO, framförallt; Musiken är väldigt glad. Men lyssna på texterna. De är väldigt deprimerande. Det får mig att undra; Hur är det med henne? Vissa låtar är självklart smådeppiga på alla skivor, men det här är rakt igenom hela skivan.

Twilight. Twilight. Och återigen Twilight. Bad Romance -> Bella tjatar på Edward om hans “Bad Romance”. Alejandro -> Bella är inte det minsta intresserad av Mike & Eric. Monster -> Bella & Jacob, New Moon. Speechless -> New Moon, när Edward lämnar Bella. Dance In The Dark -> Eclipse. Historien om Rosalie, berättad av Emmett. Telephone -> Breaking Dawn, när Charlie ringer och ringer och de har ursäkter hela tiden. So Happy I Could Die -> När Ed och Bells blir ihop. Teeth -> Öhm… “Show me your teeth”… Do I need to say more?

Jag älskar albumet. Det är så mycket bättre än “The Fame“, både musik och textmässigt. Lady Gaga har verkligen vuxit. Även bookleten är mycket bättre utformad. Men vad är det med censuren? “Cause you know I’m a Freak Bit- baby!” “Baby I’m a free, Bit-“ “We might have – not really sure don’t quite recall“… STÖRANDE! Speciellt på “Bit”… där det skulle varit bitch.

Men nåja. TVEKA INTE ATT KÖPA DEN!!

Bäst: Dance In The Dark
Sämst: Censuren.

Jag tror inte att jag är ensam när jag säger att Vixen är ett av de bättre banden från 80-talet. Och ännu bättre; It’s girls only! ; )

Hursomhelst, så klickade jag hem deras debutskiva för några dagar sen, och fick hem den igår. Tänkte skriva ett par ord om den nu!

Skivan har verkligen det där “80talssoundet” som väldigt få band har, även en del band såsom Mötley Crüe, Twisted Sister, Vinnie Vincent Invasion och AC/DC har inte ens det här soundet, andra band som haft det är Danger Danger och Alice Cooper. Och Janets röst ska man inte skoja om heller. Det är FÅ som har en sådan röst.

Men okej, låt oss gå lite djupare. Det här är ett sådant där album som inte har en enda dålig låt. Om man jämför med deras andra platta, “Rev It Up” så finns det, inte bara ett par, utan ganska många låtar jag hoppar över. Typ som ” Not A Minute Too Soon”. Visst, den är väl inte dålig, men inte jättebra heller. Den låten som skulle vara den “dåliga” på den här skivan är i sådana fall “Hellraiser”, men även den är helt grym. Jag har lyssnat på skivan ett par gånger för att hitta något som är dåligt med den, för det är hittils bara Gotthard som har lyckats att ha helt perfekta album… Men tydligen så gör Vixen det också! För att gå igenom några snabba bland låtarna som är det blandning mellan anthems med “Edge Of A Broken Heart”, kaxiga låtar som ” I Want You To Rock Me” och sedan dunderhärliga och glada låtar som “Charmed Life”.

Skivan är super, och alla som UPPSKATTAR musiken bör ha den. Eller ska. Den går nog hem hos dem som inte uppskattar den också, men… Ja. Helt perfekt skiva!

Lordi’s new album was released today, and I got it! So I thought I should write a little review on it.

Lordi is a finnish hardrock band, which was formed in 1996 when the first line up of member met on the cruise that was arranged by the Kiss Army to see Kiss in Sweden.  They released their first CD, “Get Heavy” in 2002 and their single “Would You Love a Monster Man?” got to be a huge succsses. But it was first in 2006 the band got it’s real break-through, in the Eurovision Song Contest where they won the contestwith their “Hard Rock Hallelujah!” with the highest score ever in ESC history (292 points). They became extremly popular and their album “The Arockalypse” (released 2006) sold three-times platinum all over the world, and now they’re back with a new album, after making the horromovie “Dark Floors“.

October 29th was this CD released, and here is my thought of it.
SCG VI is a opening that reminds me a lot of the rythm going on in ” A Nightmare On Elm Street” ( One, Two, Freddy’s coming for you) and is a great follow up on the 3 previous Scartic Circle Gatherings.
“Girls Go Chopping” is a good opening song, it’s heavy in the way a Lordi song is and bring the thoughts back to “Brining Back The Balls To Rock”, with a mix of “Bring It On”. Really good, it increases your expectations on the CD. The next song up is their first single of the CD, “Bite it Like A Bulldog“. I wasn’t too fond about this one I have to say, But it doesn’t suck either.

I’d rather say that the next track, “Monsters Keep Me Company” is the first song to prove that this might have something to set against “The Monsterican Dream” (which is in mine opinion the best album). This is a long, and slow (but still fast) song, and I just don’t know what to say about it. The refrain is catchy and the music has this little “horrorpeak” in it. A little “It Snows In Hell” over it. “Man Skin Boots” is next up, and thats a little bit faster song, which reminds me a lot about Slaughter songs, don’t ask me why. I wouldn’t really rate this one as one of my favourites, and nor do “Dr. Sin is In” which is the next track, no, it’s first at ” The Ghosts of The Heceta head” as I once again can feel this “now-we’re-ready-to-bring-up-the-fight-against-Monsterican Dream“. This is a catchy song, which makes me think a little of “Beast Loose In Paradies” (why isn’t this song on the record?). 

“Evilyn” on the other hand is a song I can’t really just.. no. But the increasing of the tempo in the end really makes it better. But it still doesn’t have THAT. “The Rebirth of the Countess” is an instrumental song by Awa, as “Magistra Nocte” althought this have som French speaking about.. the rebirht of Awa, I believe.  Since this is a pretty calm song, you really get into that mood, so I believe I’m not the only one that might have jumped in the roof when the nest track “Raise Hell in Heaven” begins, I’d say the song is something like “Dynamite Tonite” and “Wake the Snake“. Not in my taste with other words.

The titletrack is the next song up, and this is my favourite on the CD! Though it feels like I heard the intro somewhere before, I just don’t know where. This song is pretty much like “Supermonstars” and got a catchy refrain that is easy to sing along to, and I can already imagine this being the song EVERYONE is going to jump to, the entire song. God, I love it. I can’t really say the same about the next song, but at this point the “quality” of the CD has rised, it’s gotten better. “Missing Miss Charlene” about a missing little girl (I think?) is also among my favourites. Catchy, and scary on the same time. A song that reminds me a lot of the opening of Sailor Moon, don’t even bother asking, because I don’t even know why. These statements “A Monster stole miss Charlene” makes it scary.

On my version of the record (there are different versions) there are an extra track, called “The House“. It’s a really good song, but it got this refrain that for some reason SCREAMS countrymusic! But does this make it bad? I’d say the other way around.

So what do I think of this album? It’s a really good album, it was reall worth the waiting! I can’t WAIT to come to a Lordi concert and hear some of these tracks live! Of course, it doesn’t beat The Monsterican Dream, but, it’s better than both The Arockalypse and Get Heavy.
