Masterpiece

“With lights low and hopes high
We’d make the world our stage all night
‘Cause this play in our dreams
Was meant to be our masterpiece”

Yes. I guess that is exactly what we could say today. I’ve probably had the most anticlimactic experience I’ve ever had in my life today.

I was sitting on Facebook, minding my own business when I get this little notification “Triffid & Danger cancelled the event Lordi”

Heh. Heh. Very funny dude. Figured that perhaps they are changing dates or venue or creating a new event. We kept the hopes high, before it was confirmed from several sources:

Lordi’s gig in Stockholm have been cancelled.

And I don’t know if I should laugh or cry. First and foremost, it was too good to be true. That Lordi would play here. Secondly, it’s been one or two days since this gig was announced. And it’s already cancelled. What the hell is actually happening.

Well. I don’t know. I’m just gonna crumble up in my bed and lie down, try not to cry, CRY.

With lights low and hopes high
We’d give it all to shine a light
But this play in our dreams
Was just a fairytale as it seems”

The funniest thing when I’m planning tours is the fact I never start where I should. Powerwolf tour is embarking in about a month, and when sitting down today mapping out and planning my upcoming tours, I end up buying planetickets for Paris.

PARIS.

That’s in November. Like two months away. But this isn’t even anything unusual. I have a tendency to book and organize the things that are the furthest away first, for some really weird reason – like getting Sabaton tickets for next year.

And I have yet to actually book or even decide anything about my Powerwolf tour. I guess I’m a bit stuck. I don’t really like the detour to Gothenburg, and would rather prefer doing Finland, it’ll be a little bit, not a lot, but a little bit more expensive, but it’ll also be four gigs, not three. The plus side with Gothenburg, not only being cheaper is also that I’ll have four possible work days as well, and only one possible work day if I do Finland. But then again, I work literally 24/7, so it’s no harm done for me to take a week off..

Oh well. It will all come together somehow in the end. The key to everything with tourplanning is to wait and hold on. The big mistake a lot of people do when they plan tours, are that they book everything right away and then they’re done. You should wait a little. Partly wait for sales, but most importantly – wait for other tourdates of other bands. I think this tour in particular, the November one, has been changed multiple times only for the sake of additions and removals of tours. And I don’t even want to begin to talk about the US / Canada tour – right now it’ll consist of four countries, and that’s just at THIS POINT with the details not even close to done yet, although Epica in UK and France are pretty set.

All I can say is that I love my life. I love touring. and I love my bands. That is why I’m doing this. The one and only reason.

LORDI TO SWEDEN

Posted in Uncategorized on September 4, 2016 by Sara Hammerzmith

Alright. It’s been an hour or so since the news broke, and while I haven’t really managed to calm down in the slightest, I’ll try to make some sense out of this.

Today it was confirmed that Lordi is finally returning to Sweden.

It has been seven years since they last played a full headline show here in Sweden – can you imagine – they haven’t been here since DEADACHE TOUR. And now they are here.

When I saw it, it was like the whole world stopped. I started crying, hyperventilating and shrieking like a fire alarm, because my brain can’t comprehend the fact that Lordi is returning to Sweden. And it feels like… Finally. Sophie put it very well, when she told me that, I never gave up. We never gave up. We supported Lordi on every tour – we went to every imaginable country for them. I’ve been to France. To Germany. To Finland.

I went throught the nightmare trip that was Italy – I crashed my knee on the first night in Italy, and then went through the trip and the concerts jumping around on one leg, and then we got stranded in Gothenburg – it took us a total of 48 hours to get home, instead of seven. We’ve lived in an exorcist like hotelroom in Spain having nightmares all along, I’ve gone to the United Kingdom with the highest fever imaginable – all because of the love for this one little five piece monsterband from Finland. I’ve been to hell and back, and finally – they are coming home. After all this time, after all these tours, they are home. They are at home. I never gave up, and here is the pay off.

I love this band to the moon and back, and I look forward to seeing them at home, for once.

Welcome home, boys and girls.

Akh of Eternity

Today I’m gonna give it up a bit for a close and long friend of mine’s band Ravensnight that just released a new single from their upcoming EP.

Ravensnight is a five piece power metal band from Zaragoza, Spain which was formed in 2014, and well, I guess we can all let the music talk for itself. It features Fran on vocals, Sergio & Mark on guitars, Jorge on drums and Oscar on bass. While still being fairly new, they have already booked gigs with legends as Rush, and an upcoming show with Wisdom.

I am not sure how many readers I have from Spain, but those of you who are, or happen to have the roads by Spain – make sure to check this guys out! They’ll be playing with Rage on October 14th in Zaragoza, and with Wisdom on December 3rd, same location.

Go support them! Like their Facebook, follow them on youtube and wait patiently with me for their upcoming release. I seriously can’t wait. In the meantime, check out some of their other songs:

REVIEW: Serious Black – Mirrorworld

Posted in CDs, Music, Uncategorized with tags , , , on September 1, 2016 by Sara Hammerzmith

Serious Black, the “All-star-group-but-not-a-supergroup-in-that-sense” coming literally out of nowhere slamming down like an asteroid, are back already a year after their critically acclaimed debut album “As Daylight Breaks”. It’s been quite the year for them – good highs touring with bands such as HammerFall, Gamma Ray and Kamelot – and now it’s finally time for them to grace us with a second album – “Mirrorworld”.

And buckle up folks, “Mirrorworld” is an album that will take you for a ride.

It all begins a bit cautiously, you are slowly getting into the ride, the more adventurous ride I’d say – building up the excitement before stopping for a brief moment – then starting again. It builds up the tension, the excitement, prepares you for what is yet to come – and then unexpectedly throws you into the first song of the album, “As Long as I’m Alive”, that starts off as a statement, to the world – to the fans, to everyone.

It continues on in the, on the more aggressive side, “Castor Skies”, which is essentially a very typical metal song with bombastic choruses and hammering drums. After this – the ride slows down, and we are thrown into the highlight of the album. The heartbreak songs. “Heartbroken Soul” which brings the thoughts back to Cinderella’s 80’s hit “Nobody’s Fool”, with a bit of KISS’s “Forever”, it’s like mash of the two but with Serious Black’s own imprint on it. The song is followed up by one on a similar theme – “Dying Hearts”. There’s something about these two songs that simply catches me, drags me into and keeps me there.

Noteworthy, is Urban’s vocal work in this album. While I am familiar with some of his work with Bloodbound, I don’t think I’ve ever really heard him being so versatile as I find him on this album, especially with these two tracks. It’s almost to the point where I don’t recognize it being him and that’s a pretty good thing for me personally – showing the different sides of one persons talent.

The pace is picked up in “You’re Not Alone” which fills the function of giving you a hint of hope after dragging you down in the heartbreak sever, and then an echoing, almost Amaranthe-like intro starts off to prepare you for the titletrack – The “Mirrorworld.” A song dealing with the emotion of being locked up in a situation you can’t get out of, suffocating you and trying to find your way. It’s followed up by “State of my Despair” which follows up the theme of the previous one, before wrapping up the album with “Unborn Never Die”.

To conclude it all, while still being in the spirits of “As Daylight Breaks”, it’s elevated. It’s better, bigger and essentially, taking more space. It’s got cheerful and big songs with adrenaline pumping lyrics as well as low key songs with touching lyrics and I also sense a little bit of 80’s inspiration – unintentionally or not, I love it. The album has a clean production and a good consistency throughout the album – there really aren’t anything I can complain about. Well done, boys!
