Summer, Where Do We Begin?

Posted in Uncategorized on December 13, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

Seriously, this is probably the best Phineas&Ferb song ever written. No joke. Listening through my Phineas & Ferb playlist and remembering all the gems from this show. This seriously is one of the best shows ever produced by Disney.

The days are running away, it feels like. It’s about ten days to christmas, gladly most of gifts and such are already bought and I have some last minute things I need to fix that I’ll fix on Tuesday since I get off an hour earlier from work that day. And I can’t begin to tell you how relieved I am that the work is about to come to an end. It’s been a good run, but it’s over now, or well, soon. Finally.

This also means this year is about to come do an end. And that feels weird. It feels like it was just yesterday I got on the bus to see Amaranthe in Västerås, or saw SlipKnot for the first time. It’s so weird.

And by that, it also means that Australia is creeping closer. I’m both scared and excited about it, so I guess we’ll see how it all wraps up.

Let There Be Night

Posted in Uncategorized on December 12, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

Hello amazing people!

I’m sorry for the extreme delay of any kind of update. December is a busy month, trying to pull together things for Australia, working what feels like 110% and trying to study for an exam, all at once, but also trying to figure out what to even bring to Australia.

Decision, decisions…

However – something amazing was announced yesterday. New acts for Väsby Rock Festival includes POWERWOLF and TRIXTER.

I love Powerwolf, as you all know, but Trixter… Trixter is one of those bands I discovered in 2007 that I always cared a little bit more for. That I like better. That I always hoped to see live. But it was one of those bands who were big before, and now are more… yeah. Where all those bands are.

However, I saw that they were booked for a festival in Italy, and I thought I’d try to go there to see them, because seriously, it’s one of those bands I just have to see. Sometime. So when I saw their name at the poster for Väsby… I was on Skype with Paula I remembered, and I just stopped mid sentence. And then I started breathing heavily. TRIXTER. IN SWEDEN. AT VÄSBY.

Now, I am for sure going to Väsby next year.

Blessessed and Possessed

Posted in Uncategorized on December 9, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

Oh happy days almost two days in a row now! An album I was certain wasn’t going to come because CDON sometimes delivers what they want as far as order items goes, happened to arrive at my doorstep today. Something I had waited for A LONG TIME.

Blogis 595

BLESSED AND POSSESSED! And as you can see, I got the limited edition one featuring the coveralbum as well. Like I said about the Def Lepard album, I’ll dig more into this once I’ve gotten around to properly listen to it, but as far as I’ve heard so far it’s soooo good. Powerwolf is really one of the most perfect bands EVER.

Now I just need to make up my mind on what other albums to get. Any ideas?

Oh happy days!

Today I got a delivery from CDON with what I hoped would be two albums, sadly, it turned out to be only one for now.

Deffy

I haven’t gotten around to listen to it just yet, since it came today, but as soon as I’ve got the time to listen it through, I’ll let you know what I thought.

Now I’m basically just eagerly waiting for the other album, “Blessed and Possessed” by Powerwolf.

You Better Die Young

Posted in Uncategorized on December 6, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

Another day filled of absolutely nothing. I’m starting to get really sick, and that is, if you ask me, very very bad now in the last few weeks I have to work up money for Australia. But it always works out in the end.

I’ve spent most of my sick days with Jennie lately, mostly because I need people to hang out with lately when going through hard stuff. What do you do when people give up on you.

On a brighter note, I’ve finally gotten myself more of a smartphone. My old Sony Xperia Mini thingywingy is on his last breaths, so it’s time for it to retire. I’ll miss it sooo much, since I love the keyboard on it, but it’s getting to difficult to work with. The hardest part about it all is choosing a case. I don’t wanna open and start the new phone before I have a case for it… but oh, the possibilities.

And I also need to buy some last CD’s before this year is over. But which ones?

Ni Som Stannar Kvar

What I have a hard time comprehending is how close Australia is getting. And how close everything else is getting. It’s about a mere month until I’ll see my boys in SlipKnot again, it’s a mere month before I land on Australian soil, about a mere month before I, or we, will go on our biggest trip yet in our lives.

I must admit I’m a bit nervous, mostly because of economic reasons, but for some reason, it always works out for us.

On another not, festival summer is also starting to shape up. We are in the final stages on deciding on what festivals we’ll do, and that makes me beyond happy. Now I’m just going to await the concerts for next year.

2016 will be amazing.

Non Stop Rock n Roll

Posted in CDs, Music, Uncategorized on December 3, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

I’m going to talk a bit about this album, “Non-Stop Rock n Roll”. I have talked about it before I’m sure, but seriously…

I recently re-discovered the album on our way down to Gothenburg to catch HammerFall and Civil War, as we decided to bring a CD from every shelf. Seeing Wig Wam has it’s own shelf, the choice was easily made. I can honestly say that “Non-Stop Rock n Roll” is by far Wig Wam’s best album ever made.

I’ve always been of the opinion that Wig Wam sort of re-made their albums over and over again, but improving them. Like, “Wig Wamania” was a new version of “Hard to Be a Rock n Roller” and thus, “Non Stop” becomes a better version of “Wig Wamania”. And seriously… This is one of my personal favorites as far as albums goes.

It starts off like a punch in the stomach with “Do You Really Wanna Taste It?” and continues on with the a bit heavier and rougher “Walls Come Down”. After this comes two more, to the music, happier songs – “Wild One”, which, despite the cheery music, is not a very happy song. “C’Mon Everybody” is the other one. And then it comes.

“Man in the Moon”

Like… Where do I even begin with this song? This is essentially the new “Bygone Zone” which is absolutely fantastic, but “Man in the Moon”… I get both extremely happy when I hear it, but I also feel like crying. I’m not even sure how to explain… The mixture of the music, the lyrics and Glam’s voice just makes it… epic. For being such a scaled down song. The melody line in the chorus is to die for…

“Still I’m Burning”… I love this song. It’s a more upbeat song, and most importantly – it features Teeny on vocals. For some reason, the more albums came out, the more the other members started singing. The song is… how do I explain this. It’s rough, almost a bit possessive, needing, craving. God I love it’s intensity.

And now… I’m going to talk about the best song on the album.

“Rocket Through My Heart”.

It might be hard to believe that this one is my favorite, considering what I wrote about “Man in The Moon”, but honestly… This song is… it has this low profile. When I hear this song, I think of summer. I think of festivals, I think of sitting in the park with a drink in your hand with your loved ones, catching the eye of that person that is or at least could be your lover, listening to an old school stereo. It has this 80’s vibe, this… how do I write this. I can’t. It’s just… perfect in so many ways without being particularly difficult, experimental or extreme. It’s just the perfect song for a perfect night.

Seriously. Wig Wam may be long gone, and I might not listen to this band at all as much as I should nowadays, but this album.. this album my friends. Some of the best bits, I tell you.

Revenge is Sweeter

The beautiful thing with The Veronicas, is the fact that I very rarely listen to them unless things like this happens. When a person takes his frustration out, and decides to wreck your every day life upside down. When he’s handling in affection, and won’t listen to what you say and handles without reason.

When a person like him thinks it’s more important to have derranged views than keeping someone they once claimed they cared for. When a person thinks you are too annoying because apparently, being passionate about something is also overreacting. And that this quality of yours, is worse than everything else you have ever done for them.

When you have done things for a person no one else could, because they don’t have the geographical location, the resources or the brain to even come up with these kind things, when none of this matters anymore because you are too passionate for their taste…

When you have gone through thick and thin, forgiven every single bad step he ever made, and even though that person went behind your back,  and you forgave him repeatedly, but he feels that none of this is worth it.

When that person, wants so badly to get rid of you, but also so badly hold on to you he openly admits that he’ll stalk you… well, here’s to you! Here’s a blog entry entirely dedicated to you. You are much welcome.

And it’s always in moments like this, The Veronicas are the best kind of music. I haven’t listen to this song since 2009, when Elias left me. Oh good old days. Ah, I love The Veronicas.

Love Tyger

So… I told you guys I’d tell you more about what happened after the show. We stayed around a bit to chat with Rikard, where he informed us about an afterparty, which we went to.

I’m not sure how much I wanna go into detail on what went down on this very, special event, but let me just tell you this – it was a small place, and it was a lot of fun. It all culminated in me playing peek-a-boo with Joacim Cans at the bathroom stalls, mostly because I could. It was a great night meeting some of Sweden’s metal elite and spending time with new and old friends. I managed to meet up with Chris again after all these years. I’m not sure anymore how many years it was since I last saw him, but it was good to see him again. So, basically, a great night.

After that.. the hellride home began. I shit you not. The storm coming over west of Sweden was going hard at us, and I shit you not.. I pulled over a bit in order to get some sleep before continue to drive, and I thought the car was going to flip over. I was happy of course, that I had roof over my head. But any time we had to get out of the car… brr, it was a dreaded moment.

But finally, at about 8am we rolled in home to Karlstad and hit the bed for like one hour.

Oh how I love touring.

Phineas&Ferb: Last Day of Summer

Posted in Phineas&Ferb, Uncategorized on November 29, 2015 by Sara Hammerzmith

This, my friends, is a day I’ve dreaded for a year or so now. And to make it even worse, I lost DisneyChannel and DisneyXD for quite some time, and I was certain I’d miss out on it. And I did miss out on the DC premiere, but not the DXD premiere.

So, as the title suggest, Last Day of Summer – it’s the last, very last episode ever of Phineas & Ferb. All good things comes to an end I guess, and even so Phineas&Ferb.

Crisps, dip, candy and Perry the Platypet accompanied me what would probably do it, for this very last episode.

SPOILER ALERT BENEATH

So, since us non-native English countries, this comes a little later than in the US, so I rule it as fairly safe to write about it here. Phineas and Ferb and the gang decides to build the biggest and most amazing thing they did all summer – and of course, Candace tries to bust them but fails. Instead, she decides to return some DVD’s to Vanessa, leading her to Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc. Once here, she talks a bit with Heinz while Vanessa makes tea, leading up to Candace finding out he had a repeat-the-day-inator, which repeats the day. She activates this, with Doof also in the bubble, and the day keeps repeating itself.

However, playing the the time and space quantuum, there’s always going to be bad sides – occasionally, a rip in time and space appears, and anything that disappears, disappears in a way that no one remembers them. After a while, the whole gang is stuck in the other time-dimension, trying to get back. However – there’s a catch. As the days are repeated, they get shorter and shorter, and once they get out of the rip, they have mere seconds to fix everything. Candace throws a spoon and managed to save the entire Tri-State-Area. The whole show is wrapped up in a song about everything that has happened these past four seasons, and it was… quite emotional in a way.

So, what do I think about this episode? Well.. It’s good. And it was emotional. But I must still admit… There has been better. You can sort of tell they were running out a bit of ideas – I mean hell, “Mission Marvel” was a big hit if we are going to compare special episodes. Maybe it’ll grow on me, maybe it won’t…

But it feels weird. That it’s over and done. I’ve even started to notice it already – how little Phineas & Ferb airs on Disney Channel, and this is what I was afraid of. It going away completely. Gladly, DXD has marathons every day these days.. I hope I manage to catch “Act Your Age” at least.

Anyway. Swampy, Danny and crew – Thank you for these four seasons. Thank you for all the joy, for all the tears (yes) and for all the ideas. It might be a childrens show, but my creativity hits the rocket when I watch this. I noticed, when I stopped, that I got less creative. Once I started to watch it again, I’ve already made a lot of blue prints of inventions to use in the future.

Thank you, Phineas & Ferb – for everything.
