Kissin’ Dynamite @ Backstage by the Mill, Paris, France 5/11 – 16

Posted in Uncategorized on November 5, 2016 by Sara Hammerzmith

So! I’m not sure if I mentioned it in my last post, but because of the extensive walking I’ve been doing in not very friendly shoes for the long period of times, one of my legs have started to act up. Ironically, it is NOT the leg that is already injuried, of course, it was my healthy one, and because of this delays was bound to happen. And so was it. Gladly, and also sadly in a way I guess, I came for the last two songs of the supportband. Those two songs were really good, and they delievered those two songs very well. The band was Maxwell, I might add.

Right after these I headed off to the merchandise to check if there was anything I wanted, which there actually was. Both Amaranthe and Delain hadn’t really been able to deliver anything interesting, so I was happy to see that Kissin’ Dynamite had something to offer. A very classic, simple Generation Goodbye tourshirt was bought, and as I turn around I see Ambre, a girl I met at Delain yesterday. I was SOOO surprised, but also soooo happy to see her! I thought I’d end up going alone to this gig, but nope.

Anyway, she and I sat around and talked and caught up, and a little while later, the intro to “Generation Goodbye” started and the band walked on stage.

So, as mentioned, they started the set off with “Generation Goodbye”. And you know, I love this song so much, and it’s really cool as an opener. It’s not one of those “in the face” kind of openers that you are used to with bands like Sabaton or Amaranthe, but more low scale. I absolutely love it. They continued on with “Money, Sex and Power” and then, one of my personal favorites, “DNA”.

It was a very small crowd that had found themselves the way to Backstage by the Mill today, which was a bit surprise – it’s Paris, and a Saturday! What the hell. I did see a long line outside Elyseé Montmarte though, so perhaps there were a show there.

“Highlight Zone” was next on the list, followed by “Love me, Hate Me”. The crowd was pretty good. I have seen way better, but I have also seen way worse. And I guess for a 100 people (or less) crowd, it was pretty decent!

“If Clocks were Running Backwards” slowed down the set a bit before taking off again with “She’s a Killer” and “Deadly”. And then, Hannes started talking about asking their fans for what songs they should play, and that one song in particular had been wished a lot, and I just prayed that it would be that song.

And it was.

“She Came, She Saw”. My personal favorite off “Generation Goodbye”. Seriously, this song is absolutely amazing, and it was even better live. This band is amazing. They followed it up with “Somebody to Hate”, and then “Operation Supernova” which seemed to be quite the hit with the crowd.

After this, they rolled in a Piano and Hannes set down and performed a beautiful piano medley consisting of a bit different, I guess, songs from Kissin’ Dynamite’s catalouge. It was a really beautiful moment, a man, his piano and his voice. These moments are simply amazing.

They hit off the show again with “Supersonic Killer”, followed by “Sex is War” and then a song that tore the audience apart – “Hashtag your Life”. Interestingly enough, Hannes mentioned it as well that he hadn’t seen a lot of smartphones, and he loved it.

They contiuned on with “Steel of Swabia” before wrapping it all up with “Ticket to Paradise” and then leave the stage, as you know, only to return a little bit later.

“Six Feet Under”, “I Will be King” and “Flying Colors”  wrapped up the entire set, and while I do feel they should have switched place on the last two, it was a great ending.

This was an amazing show. This band really knows how to entertain and I look forward seeing them again soon.

After the show, Ambre and I hung around for a long time chatting about everything and nothing before it was time for us to part ways. This was a perfect last night in Paris, couldn’t have asked for more. Tomorrow, I’m heading off to Ireland.

Down with the Devil

Posted in Travels, Uncategorized on November 5, 2016 by Sara Hammerzmith

Today was my last day in Paris, and you know, while it’s actually kind of nice to settle down in a city and catch many shows in a row, it also sucks. A lot. Because after a while you get used to it. Life here. You get your metrostation and all of a sudden you turn into a stressed and pissed off Parisian.

For the day I felt like I was running around literally everywhere, trying to catch as much as possible on this last day. I started off at the Pont Neuf, and then walked my way over to Place du Concorde and the Obelisque.

obelisque

And yes, walked. I do prefer walking – if it’s up to an hour walk, I’ll happily do it. It allows you to see more of the city you are in, in my opinion.

After this, I made my way over to the Bastille, which I sadly didn’t get any good photos off. I walked over to Maison de Victor Hugo, but decided that I’ll save the museum for some other time. After this, I went off to Jardin Du Luxembourg, and on my way I passed a few things, amongst those, Pantheon.

I realize that this blog entry might sound very, very uninspired and quick, but it’s because at this very moment, my mind is sort of scattered because the day went so fast that I barely remember what I actually went to. Perhaps it’ll be better later.

After being in the parc, I went to McDonalds (classic!) for dinner before heading off to the Eiffel tower to catch it in the dark. Like I mentioned before, there’s nothing I like more than lit up buildings and neon lights in the dark, and I just knew I had to see this magnificent building in the dark as well. And I was not disappointed. AT ALL.

After this, it was time for me to get home and get ready for Kissin’ Dynamite, the last show of the stay here in Paris.

Glory and The Scum

Posted in Travels, Uncategorized on November 4, 2016 by Sara Hammerzmith

So! First thing in the morning after getting up and slowly eating one slice of bread was to calculate costs. Yaaay, right? Not really. Or well, it’s fun in one way, but it also gives one a headache sometime putting it all together. But I also reckon that, the more often I do it, perhaps once a day, the better it is for me later on when trying to put all costs together.

Once done, Florian very fittingly wrote to me and said he was outside Elysée Montmarte, so I jumped down to keep him some company in the wait for Laura, whom arrived shortly thereafter. We made our way to McDonalds where we had some late breakfast or early lunch before going back to the venue and there, we parted ways. I myself, headed off to the Eiffel Tower which would be today’s first stop.

lauraflorian

Funnily enough, on my way there, which included a trainchange, I wound up at the Arc de Triomph, so I figured, why not? It was actually my second destination so.

arcdetriomph

It’s seriously so stunning up close. Last time I saw it, was from a bus and we circulated twice. And this was 11 years ago, so. After a quick look at the maps, I realized the Eiffel Tower was a mere 30 minute walk from the bow, so I decided to walk and discover the neighbourhood a bit.

It’s so interesting in a way, how different French architecture and standards are compared to Swedish. The buildings are really romantic and more… I don’t know how to even explain it in English, but there’s something extraordinary beautiful about it. After a while though, I reached the majestic Eiffeltower.

eiffeltower

It’s a very very grand building in all it’s might and it… All of the things I’ve been seeing here in Paris is just hard to grasp. You have heard about them, and seen them on pictures, but when you stand there, right in front of them, it’s hard to grasp they are really THERE.

I headed back toward Notre Dame shortly after to pick up a small medalion, but also to catch Notre Dame in the dark and you know, it was the most dreamlike moment.

notredamebynight

As I approached the Cathedral, the bells started ringing. I had goosebumps all over, and my mind went completely blank. It just threw me all the way back into 1482, right into Victor Hugo’s novel. And once inside again, I wound up in a mass. It was just… I can’t really explain the feeling to you, but it was an extraordinary and divine situation to be in.

mass

Right after, I headed off toward the Palace of Justice, Frollo’s home in the Disney adaption, and seriously, when I saw the building, recognizing it instantly from the movie. All these places, once seen in a cartoon movie are all of a sudden real. Very, very real. Sadly, I didn’t catch any good pictures of it.

After this, I headed straight home, and as I write this, I’m just about to leave for Delain, who are playing across the street from where my hotel is. See you later!

Delain @ Elyseé Montmarte, Paris, France 4/11 – 16

Posted in Concerts, Music, Uncategorized with tags , , on November 4, 2016 by Sara Hammerzmith

So! It was time. With a lot of delays, I didn’t find myself at the venue until a little after doors opened, which I felt a little bad about to be honest, as Laura and Florian had set up for someone to watch my spot, but, what can you do?

When I got to the venue, or well, you know, it was across the street from my hotel, the line went on pretty fast, and right as I got in, Kobra and the Lotus started.

Kobra & the Lotus

I saw Kobra earlier this year, but with Kamelot, and I adored her already when I saw her, so getting to see her with her own band was something I really looked forward to. And wow! What a show! The energy! It was a very short set, but it was very very good. Enjoyed it SOO much. I’m falling for this band.

161104kobraatlelyseemontmarteparis

After a very, VERY short wait, Evergrey started.

Evergrey

Gothenburg based band Evergrey stood for the next show of the evening, and they delivered a really good set! I enjoyed it from start to finish, well, except the stop in the middle when the firealarm went off, and we had to be waiting for a while. But aside that, good, good show!

161104evergreyelyseemontmarteparis

At this point, or during the fire alarm thing, I had managed to make my to the front to Laura, and thanks to this amazing girl who let me in front of her, seriously, thank you sooo much! And shortly thereafter, Delain started. I love the fact that they simply start as soon as it’s all done instead of having the diva minutes.

Delain

The intro, “The Monarch” started and to the rhythm of the drummer they sent up the backdrop, the rest of the band joined and they kicked off with “Hands of Gold”. The response from the audience was amazing, and they followed up quickly with “Suckerpunch” before they continued on with one of my personal favorites – “Glory and the Scum”. Seriously, I just love this song so much.

“Get the Devil Out of Me” was next on the list, followed by “Pendulum”, and you know. This is my song you know. Heavy fucking headbang friendly song, also one of my favorites off “Moonbathers”. I feel like I might repeat this very sentence a lot during the night, we’ll see. The band was on fire! “Army of Dolls” were next, followed by the very, very beautiful “The Hurricane” which is you know. This song… I can’t really begin to talk about how much I love this song, how much I relate to it, and it was extremely special to watch Charlotte perform this song, to watch her put all of her emotion into it… Simply beautiful.

This was followed by “April Rain” before the band left the stage for a short moment, turning all the lights red and my personal favorite off “The Human Contradiction” – “Here Come The Vultures” started. Oh my god, I do not have enough words for how much I love this song.

161104delainelyseemontmarteparis

This song, was followed by another song I love – “Fire with Fire”. It’s like they managed to pick out exactly my favorites to play for the night. “The Gathering” from “Lucidity”, which celebrates ten years since the release this year, was next and holy hell! The audience! What a response! And what a rush the song was.

They wrapped the set up with “Pristine” before they left the stage, only to return and started off the encores with “Mother Machine”, followed by “Don’t let Go” and finally, “We are the Others”. The band thanked for the night and left the stage.

Seriously, this show was soo good. This band is one of those bands who are really interactive with the crowd, and just radiates that energy and translate it onto the crowd. It was an amazing show, and also, I’m in love with Charlotte’s dress. I could barely take my eyes off it! So beautiful.

After the show, we had a quick gathering and then I went off to the merch to pick up on Kobra’s album and take the moment to thank Kobra for the show, and also for her amazing performance with Kamelot at Skogsröjet earlier this year.

lotuses

After that, I mostly sat around on a couch until a girl sat down next to me, and I started talking to her… only to realize she’s Swedish! HOW BIG ARE THE ODDS? Apparently big enough! So we sat around and chatted until we got evicted from the venue, and the party moved outside.

I met up again with Laura, Cyril and the others, and we hung around talking for a long while, before it was time to say good night and walk our separate ways.

This has been an AWESOME night, it was soooo good to see Delain again, and mostly, to meet all my wonderful friends again. I love you all!

Amaranthe @ Petit Bain, Paris, France 3/11 – 16

Posted in Concerts, Music, Uncategorized with tags , , , on November 3, 2016 by Sara Hammerzmith

So. The clock had started to run a little bit for me, so it was a very very stressed Sara that was running around in the hotelroom trying to pull everything together (going to prepare it sooo much better for Delain tomorrow, although it’s unnecessary) and then heading off to the venue. As I’m sitting on the metro trying to organize and sort through my stuff, I notice my entire little finger is covered in blood. At first I get startled, because, sure, I know I have sensitive skin and that it breaks easily, especially when cold, but this was just too much blood. Managed to figure out I probably got a papercut from the ticket. So I guess we can all agree that I’d bleed for Amaranthe, huh?

fuckingpapercut

This is what it looks like when cleaned. Damn.

Anyway, because I forgot to charge my phone, I had decided to keep it turned off as much as possible, and written down what metro stations to take and go to, and while being on the last one I kept my eyes open for boats, and I feel so proud of myself for managing to find the venue / boat without using google maps. Sure, it wasn’t a far distance or anything, but I’m still feeling so proud of it.

So, Petit Bain is sure as hell petite. Very, very small, but also very very cozy. I came in right as Smash Into Pieces started playing

Smash Into Pieces

I had listened a little bit to them before the gig, well, as preparations for the gig, so I honestly didn’t know a whole lot of the band, but I enjoyed the show so much. They are very good and entertaining on stage, and I really liked the music once I got to hear it better than me running around at work. Good job guys!

1601103smashparis1

Once they were done, I managed to locate my dear friend Laura, classicly by seeing her Pikachu bag, or, Metal Pika as he’s more known as. And seriously… I haven’t seen this girl in over a year! Last time I saw her was at Delain in Belgium in October last year, how long! How is it possible! It was soooo good to reunite with her again and catch up a little little bit, before it was time for Sonic Syndicate to go on.

Sonic Syndicate

So, this band is also a band that was a bit unknown for me – well, musically. That’s the thing – I’m well aware of both bands since before, but never really bothered to look into them too much. Syndicate, however, I remember that their newest album “Confession” stuck with me when I was doing my prelistening, so I was very excited to see them.

And what a set they delievered! Shit, it was just that good! I enjoyed it from start to finish, and I’ll really try to see them again some time. This was soo good.

161103syndicateparis1

After Sonic Syndicate, the eager wait for Amaranthe began… And.. already at this point they start some sort of intro which consisted of snippest of their old songs, as if someone was changing stations on a radio or so.

Amaranthe

But, at half past 21, the actual intro for the show started, the band got on stage and they hit the show off with “Maximize”. And holy hell! I mean, the crowd had already showed that they got some in them in Sonic Syndicate, but it simply exploded, and then I mean in a pit. People were pushed side to side, but damn I loved it. Finally back at a show with decent people in the crowd – Seriously, I’ve always preferred southern shows (seen from Sweden) because people are so chill.

They followed up directly with “Boomerang”, which isn’t a personal favorite, but they did it so well. Elize was on basic fire. “Hunger” was the third song, and if you thought people exploded in “Maximize”, then… ough. Holy shit! And how warm was it not in here?

“Invincible” was next on the list, followed by “1.000.000 Lightyears” and the band was just on fire. I don’t know how many of you know this – but for this tour Jake E was being replaced by Adam from Smash Into Pieces, and damn. He fits soooo good in. I’m in absolute love with his voice, and it just became so perfect together with Elize and Henrik. And his stagepersona! The way he interact with the crowd! I love him.

161103amarantheparis1

“Trinity” and “True” was next on the setlist before it was time for my personal favorite off “Maximalism” – “Fury”. My adrenaline started pumping so hard as soon as I heard the intro, because you know, this oughta be good. And it was, oh my god. This whole performance with the red lights going all over the venue and Henrik just absolutely slaying it on stage… Damn. Easily the best moment on the whole show.

The song was followed up by the Elize’s ballad “Endlessly”, and I love this song so much. It’s so… epic. Powerfull. BIG. But, one critique. I think Elize needs to back away a little bit from the microphone when doing the louder and higher tones, because it was very unpleasant for the ear as it all just became noise. But aside that, it was a magical moment.

Morten showed off some of his skills before it was time for “On The Rocks”, which is one of my favorites off the new album, and it was soooo good live. Like beyond. I love it even more now. “Automatic” was next on the list before they played my personal favorite, and also the song I discovered Amaranthe with, “The Nexus”. Seriously, this is one of my favorite moments during an Amaranthe show.

It was followed by “Amaranthine”, and just hearing the entire crowd.. I mean, it feels magical for me, how mustn’t it feel for the band? Damn. It’s amazing. They closed up the set with “Call Out My Name”, and seriously…The crowd was WILD.  And it was hot! Like BEYOND! Sure, it gets warm and hot at shows, but I was drowning myself from my own sweat, do you get how hot it actually was?

They left the stage, and soon Johan returned to do some of his… stand up? I don’t really know what it’s supposed to be, but he came back, talked a bit and soon enough the whole band came and they kicked off with “Digital World”. This song is also one of my favorites live, simply because of the “Start a Revolution now!” breakdown. Seriously. As you may have noticed, my personal favorites are the songs that are very very headbang friendly. That’s my kind of live shows. “That Song” followed, and then “Dynamite” before they wrapped up the whole set with “Drop Dead Cynical”. “Endlessly” played in the background as they left the stage, it was beautiful.

This show was sooo good. I can’t get over this band, I simply can’t!

Right after the show I headed to the bar to get some water, because that was necessary. Rejoined with my friends, also said hello to Cyril that I ran into before Laura and I headed off to the merch where we spent a bit of time with the supportbands (both from Sweden, giving us a lot to talk about) and I picked up on Sonic Syndicates new album and Smash Into Piece’s “The Apocalypse DJ”. It was a very pleasant night, and I also went over to say hello to Maffe and catch up a bit with him before we were forced to leave the venue.

merchsipss

Once outside we kept hanging around and after a while Elize came out and said hi to us… And this is something I have to write about because it kind of hit me. When saying hello to everyone she looked at me and says “I have met you before have I not?” and I answered her in Swedish, that yes, in Belgium last year, and she hugged me and said “YES! You are the Swedish one, I knew it was something with you!” and this hits me a bit, because I have only met her once before, well, at least where I talked to her, and I don’t see Amaranthe very often, and we don’t have any tricks like on Lordi shows, which makes it… weird for me that she remembers me. It’s… wow. That’s all I can say.

We hung around a bit, newfound friend Florian got to sing with Elize (might post you a video later!) and just hanging out with new found friends was just amazing. Emilie and I shared a taxi home, and now I’m here in the hotelroom just thinking about what an amazing day this have been, and what a blessed life I’m living.

Tomorrow it’s time for Delain and some more touristing. On it again!

Boomerang

Posted in Travels, Uncategorized on November 3, 2016 by Sara Hammerzmith

Today started fairly early actually. In an attempt to get the most out of my Paris stay, I’ve decided to do something I rarely do, but will get better at: Touristing. To check out the places a bit. As you know, I already started a bit yesterday when I walked up to Sacre Caeur and around the neighbourhood, but today we were picking it up a bit.

By we, I mean Sophie. The sweetest little angel offered to meet up with me in Paris to spend the day together, and seriously – I haven’t seen this girl since Tuska and I found myself running towards her because I was so happy to see her again. We headed off toward the Catacombs of Paris, or as I’d call them – the Court of Miracles.

It was a long walk down, making one very very dizzy, but it was quite magnificent to be down there among everything. It was quite a morbid feeling, on the verge of unbelievable to think that these are actual skulls. That once belonged to people much like you and me.

courtofmiracles1 courtofmiracles2

Once done at the catacombs, and walking the one million stairs, we found ourselves a McDonalds for a classic Lordi-fan-kind-of-lunch. Sitting down for a good hour talking about everything and nothing and fangirling over the fact that we are going to see Lordi soon… After this, we headed off to Notre Dame de Paris, finally. You see, this is my FOURTH trip to Paris, FOURTH, and I have never in my life before seen the Notre Dame Cathedral, so it was about to become very monumental for a Hunchback of Notre Dame fan like me.

notredame2

And it’s absolutely magical. It’s majestic. We went inside and took a tour, and seriously… This cathedral is beyond beautiful. I have no words, and sadly, not a lot of picture either.

notredame4

noterdame5

After spending some time in this masterpieces of a building, we headed back towards Montmarte, with the idea of Sophie showing me where Kissin’ Dynamite is going to play so I don’t go to the wrong venue accidently, and this is where we met up with Elodia, another Lordifriend of ours. We went to the venue, and after that headed off towards the Paris Opera house, and late on the Louvre.

louvren1

After this, our paths sadly split. Sophie had to go home to Lyon, Elodia to hers and I had to go and get ready for Amaranthe. Sophie followed me to the hotel, and it was something extraordinary weird about saying “I’ll see you in Ireland on Sunday” to a French friend in Paris. But you know what? That is our life. That is tourlife.

And this has just been another perfect day.

Como Dueles en Los Labios

Posted in Travels, Uncategorized on November 2, 2016 by Sara Hammerzmith

It’s striking sometimes, what songs simply fits in as good roadmusic. I’m currently on the bus toward Oslo central, right now somewhere on a Norwegian highway listening to Maná’s song “Como Dueles en Los Labios” gazing out over the Norwegian landscape which is, despite the time of the year, bathing in sun with little clouds in the sky. And instantly, a sense of belonging. That, now, once that I’m on the road I know for sure I’m doing the right thing, that it wasn’t a bad decision to get on this trip.

It was a long annoying wait in Oslo though – sure, I don’t mind actually being on time, and have space in case something happens, but I want it to flow. So that, it’s enough time, but it’s not a lot of holes. But today… Arriving in Oslo at 11.30 and plane leaving at 17.25… that’s an annoying wait. I killed the time off at Burger King and a little bit of Pokéhunting before getting on the train and FINALLY feeling that flow, when you arrive in time to fix everything at a good pace, but not too long wait time. I finally started “Divergent”, by the way.

Finally time for boarding, and getting back to this “music on the road” thing… You see, whenever I fly I choose window seats. Maybe I could say it’s because I get motion ill, or that I’m antisocial and like to be on the inside… but the truth is, the real reason I wanna be there, especially at evening flights, is because of all the lights. When you come closer to the countries, and you start seeing the citylines, building, cars, spotlights – it’s like neonsigns of life. I find mysel glued to the window when we approach, and I always have Bon Jovi’s “Runaway” on repeat in my mind whenever I gaze.

“You know she likes the lights
At night on the neon Broadway signs”

planepic

Finally landing in Paris, struggling a little bit to figure out how the hell to actually get into Paris, but, with a few ifs and buts I found it, and you know… Isn’t it sort of ironic in a way… how easy it is? Like… It doesn’t matter what country you land in. It doesn’t matter if you speak or read the language or not, when you’ve traveled a lot to various countries, you just simply learn. I’m here, in Paris, all alone, and just… going there.

On the train toward Sacre Caeur I ran into the sweetest of gentlemen from the United States. We chatted a while on our way toward our destination, and parted ways once there.

I made it to the hotel, checked in, and after a quick shower I decided to, despite the time being close to midnight, get out and explore the place a little, after noticing how this place is drowning in Pokéstops. I know, I know, but it all comes down to how you play it. But seriously…

I think I’ve wrote it before, that I prefer the darkness over the light, and wandering around on Paris street night time… there was something mesmerizing and soothing about it, and it felt like my eyes were about to pop, everywhere I looked. It’s just… so different from Sweden. I came around one of the pubs street and I had to restrain every little inch of me to not go into one of them. Maybe one day I’ll have the courage to do that, but not tonight. I kept walking around narrow streets until I came toward the cathedral, and also what felt like the longest staircase in the world.

It was the workout routine for the day, but trust me, the pay off was worth it. Standing before this majesty of a building took my breathe away. It’s absolutely stunning.

sacrecaeur

And when you turned around…

parisbynight

I remained at this spot for several minutes. Gazing out over the city… These kind of views people… I live and breathe them.

Eventually I started making my way home, and on my way I found some interesting streetart on the buildings.

streetartparis

I love these random pieces of art that simply… exist. And appears.

So now I’m back here in my room, lazily eating some sort of dinner and about to hit the bed. Tomorrow I’ll meet up with Sophie for some quality time and a lot of sightseeing. Can’t wait.

Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now

Posted in Uncategorized on November 1, 2016 by Sara Hammerzmith

Running the last couple of errands today, picking up small stuff that I had yet to get, and packing it all down. I decided to remove some of the items, as I realized once tried on an extra time, that the likelihood that I’ll use any of these are very, very small and I’ll be better off with simply what I got left.

This day, the day before actually going there, is the worst. This is the day where I start doubting the most that this trip will be worth it. But all you need to do, is to take one look at the prettiest band in the world, the monstars and instantly a smile breaks out on your lips and you know that it’ll be worth it. Like I said last time, Lordi time is bliss.  I guess the only concern I have is the little stop over in Paris, but I’m sure it will be just fine. Before I know, I’m at CDG traveling off to the green island. Finally.

None For One

Posted in Uncategorized on October 31, 2016 by Sara Hammerzmith

Now it’s starts kicking in. It starts a little slowly with you sitting there, despite packing very very little, feeling like you should throw out everything because at this moment you don’t exactly feel that you will actually bother to use any of it, and then you start think even more. About landing in a new country and a new city all alone in the evening, on your own trying to get to your destination.

And the feeling of hopelessness. I gaze out the window at the rainy evening, or well, more like night now, and for a split moment I see the streets of Paris in front of my eyes, weather consistent and I lose my faith and the head is spinning, thoughts are telling me “no, no, no I don’t want to”. The feeling of not wanting to go, the hopeless feeling of losing your spirit over small stupid things, like the make up brush that has been missing since Powerwolf, or that the body I found on H&M’s website was not in stores, being bothered by the smell of the nail polish remover…

This, my friends, are the very essence of what I call “travelfever”. Of when you start getting nauseous before a trip, a lot of fear mixed up with excitement, the fear taking the lead in these days before. For once, I’m actually packed already – there’s a few small things that I forgot to pack that I’ll add tomorrow, but aside that I’m actually good to go, two days ahead of travel. It’s a new record for me, and feeling the travel fever kicking in I couldn’t be happier over that it’s already done.

packki

clothesss

I do, however, get very warm and fuzzy when I think about that I’ll soon be on the green island together with the best friends I have, and indulge in 110% Lorditime, and Lorditime is bliss. There’s something quite extraordinary about when we come together, a group of Lordi fans that at one point were simply usernames on a messageboard and now we are on holiday together in Ireland. I can’t wait for this.

Break of Dawn

Posted in Uncategorized on October 30, 2016 by Sara Hammerzmith

I can’t believe it’s only three days until departure. Until it’s time to go on one of those little longer tours, going through two countries and at least seven shows. I’m saying seven because I haven’t made up my mind yet about the 8th. Good on me, right? And thinking about that, I haven’t booked my bus home from Stockholm yet either… Silly me.

So today has been mostly about laundry and packing. I’m glad that I for once get these things done now, at a reasonable time rather than sitting there on Tuesday night freaking out about it. Hopefully I can close the suitcase “for good” either tomorrow or on Tuesday already, and just move on with my life, essentially.

Something I am absolutely obsessed with as far as packing goes, is getting everything into convenient bags. On the one side, it’s for organization reasons – makes it easier to find things in the suitcase, and you know you have everything on the spot, but also for convenience once you are there, especially when it comes to my make up and face/body hygiene bags.

hangybags

The good thing about these two is the hook attached to them. So basically, whenever you arrive at your destination you simply open them and hang them and that’s the end of it. No need to unpack or move around, just simply hang it up. I have an additional bag for hairproducts.

Secondly, what I call my “airport bag”.

passporti

So this is a little bag I got in Australia, if it wasn’t obvious, and I call it my airport bag, or purse if you like. In this I keep everything necessary for the flight – my passport, iPods, phones, charger, and boarding pass. Basically, all the essentials for travel that I want to have easy at hands at all times, without having to shuffle with your carry on piece.

And lastly, my lovely cable bag.

cables

I didn’t have too high expectations on this one after reading the reviews which said that the “pockets” were too small, and while I can agree – some of the pockets are really small, it works fine for me. I can fit everything I need for a trip like this in it – including the computer chord which goes in the second part of the bag, so I have no complaints. And seriously – I used this for the first time on the Powerwolf tour, and do you understand what a special kind of heaven it was to NOT find all of my cables in a big pile of mess in the backpack? That I just simply took this out and all the cables were neatly organized? HEAVEN I SAY.

So, these are some of my small travelessentials, who knows, maybe one or two of you found it somewhat useful. The cable bag I picked up on Wish, the others I found randomly in random stores a little here and there, so keep your eyes open in the beauty sections, and you might find one!
