Finland

Alrite! So here’s the deal. Me and the totally awesome Paula decided, a little spontaneous, that we should go to the release gig of Lordis new album; “Babez For Breakfast”. Said and done. I must say that the flight were really quick, which also pissed me off a little. You know, we lifted, and then the little sign that indicates thatyou can loosen your seatbelt tured off, the cabin crew gave me some coffe. And I barely even got to take the cup before the pilot asked the crew to be seated for landing… the flight took approx. 45 minutes only! Which was great, it made us ahead our own time schedule, especially when we found out the the flightbusses were leaving every tenth minute, instead of every twenty minute!

So, when we had finally gotten in to the central of Helsinki we went into the actual station to ask for the… trailway. We were SUPPOSED to ask for the trailway, but I had totally forgotten and we asked for the subway… So the guy we asked was like “Ohh, the nearest Subway is here *points* so you could as well go to the hotel…” so we did. We walked through what felt like it was half the Helsinki or something! We found the hotel pretty good without any problems, checked in, and then fainted on some comfortable beds!

However, we had a pretty tight timeschedule (even if we were a bit ahead!) so we just ran out again to get some food. We did, at some thai place. Having dinner and then we just got ready for the gig. So, it was kinda fun. We were gonna walk to Nosturi (We chose a hotel close to the gig rather than close to the central) so we walked and we were a bit worried if we’d actually see the place you know? Like with Stockholm Rock Out part 1, I wasn’t even sure where it was and almost PASSED Gamla Tryckeriet, so we walked down to the water… and we were like, “hm, where should we go now?” We looked ahead of us and saw this great brown building. It also had the text “NOSTURI” on it. But we didn’t get it!

Call us stupid swedes, please do, but we didn’t get it! But then when we saw the line of queueing fans, we put 1+1 togheter.. And this piece of stupidity is something I can take all the blame for it, and it is the same as Peace&Love 2008, when they played “Rise Of Evil”, the backdrop said “SABATON” and the guys had military pants, and still we didn’t get that it actually WAS Sabaton who was playing… So we went there. Queuing… A while. Until they finally let us in! I know I know – we only queued for half an hour, but still! It started to rain and everything…

When we got it in we went to the merch kinda immediatley, since it was right beside. They kinda had a wholesale on shirts or something, because the price at Rokkikaupa is like 25 euros for a shirt, at Nosturi? 10 € per shirt! However I only got the square shirt I planned for so long, and one “I had breakfast with Lordi” shirt. I guess you could call that shirt a tourshirt… for this gig…

When we came in, it was kinda crowded. BUT! They had a platform! AND IT WAS ON AMENS SIDE! (In both ’06 and ’09 I was at OX’s side, so I really wanted to be on Amens side this time!) so we went there, up the platform, and voila, we had a great view! The wait was pretty long, but it was so worth it!

I decided not to write about the concert in this specific entry, so just go read the specific entry for that review. But one thing; It was awesome! I mean sure, the setlist was a bit so-so, but I never really get dissappointed by Lordi, rather amazed. It’s like they have some goddess aura or something sourrunding them. After the gig we went back to the hotel and had a small afterparty… On two people basis.. I can tell you something; what happens in Helsinki stays in Helsinki!

The next day it was with a big sadness in our hearts as we left. We had a good breakfast at the hotel though, no babiez, but a good breakfast! On the airport of Helsinki we found something historical. THE MUUMI SHOP! I hadn’t even had Muumi in mind when we got there, but we went in there, and I got moomin and Paula got the stubborn redheaded chick called Lilla My in Sweden.. We went into the SECOND shop and I got a moose and a pin and Paula got something else I think… And it was here we formed the idea of The Heavy Metal Mousse which my Mooneyman is said to be something “INSANE”. We recorded a couple of videos, amongst them “Grannyz Gone Crazy” which you can see on Youtube…

I think I’ll quit here, and I’ll just say; this trip was WAY amazing! Stay tuned for the review of the concert…
