I can show you the world, shiny, shimmering, splendid…
So, as I had my princess party, I looked up popversions of the princesses songs, or mainly “A Dream Is A Wish..” and “Once Upon a Dream” as I found the original songs not fit into the playlists, mainly due to quality perspectives. I came across some DisneyChannel stuff that was fine enough, but that’s another story. We had one more princess present, the lovely Jasmine. As her movie is from the “Disney Renaissance”, I didn’t look for a popversion immediatley as her song (the album version) was well useable. This, I was to regret.
During a “rage moment” with my platypus last night, discussing DisneyChannel versions, mainly being out of our minds over “Part Of Your World” and “I Won’t Say I’m In Love” and being fine with some other, I figured I’d check if DisneyChannel made a cover of “A Whole New World”, and what it would sound like. So I went onto youtube, and simply searched for “A Whole New World Pop” and came across the official popversion with Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle.
I’ll tell you something. I can honestly, completly HONESTLY say, I’ve never been so speechless, as I continuely get when I hear this version. I thought I had gotten chills listening to music, but this song gave “chills” a whole new meaning. My heart skips beats, my eyes gets teary. I always liked the melody of this song, I always liked it, as a result of Aladdin being in my top five of Disney movies, but this… taking this song, and pouring some of that “glitter” as I call it onto it, with some really good singers… You know, right before when Regina is about to start sing Jasmine’s verse and the drumbeat comes… it just LITERALLY blows up my heart. It’s just perfect, in every single way. It brought up Aladdin one spot on my favorite movies.
Say what you want about Disney as a company and all, but you can’t not give them credit for some really extraordinary tunes. And since it’s Aladdins 20 years anniversary I just really wanna do something for it now. I gotta discuss this with my platypus.
